Coil mounting place?

1991 camaro 3.1

I just got my msd streetfire coil in and installed it and have no problems but I've been reading that some people have problems with overheating them in the stock mounting area? Where should it go?
Is it ok in the stock mounting place?

Re: Coil mounting place?

this coil??

Its ok to leave it where it is, but id reccomend mounting it away from the manifolds a bit. Over on the firewall, just try to keep it away from the heat as much as possible so it last longer.

I can show ya where mine ended up (hanging around the firewall next to the distributor) . Just make sure to run a wire from the coil's metal frame to any good ground and you know for SURE there wont be any weird radio interference or such . I seldom change the stock configuration on anything if I don't have to , but the coil mounted right over the exhaust manifold was one GM mistake that I just couldn't in good conscience not rectify .......
