Power and Idle Issues

I have a 2.8L v6 1985 camaro. The car has had several mysterious problems that I have attempted to solve on my own. It all started when it overheated and melted a valve and cracked the driver's side cylinder head. I got a new one put it on and got the drivers side machined and I have had it all back together for quite some time I just cant get rid of a few issues. I broke my distributor when I was taking the cyinder heads off and replaced it with one from a 87 2.8L. I have set the timing following the guide here to 10 degrees BTDC. I have gotten new spark plug wires, ICM, TPS, ignition coil, spark plugs, and re-torqued the head bolts after putting a few miles on it. The problems I am having now are it has no power when accelerating like it has 50HP it takes me forever to get to 60MPH. And it feels like it maxes out the RPM's in a gear before it shifts gears. I have trouble starting the car it dies as soon as I start it and I have to give it gas to keep it going and then after a little while after driving it the car no longer stalls at idle. I have checked all my hoses for vacuum leaks. There is a Check Engine Light on but I am unable to jump the two connectors on the ALDL port suddenly one day I have unable to get it to work. When I put the paperclip in its like its not making the bridge to complete the circuit and show the codes. So I have been unable to use the CEL codes to assist me in my troubleshooting. Keep in mind it had none of the above issues before the cylinder head was cracked. Any ideas on what could be causing this would be helpful.
