Louder Exhaust

I'm looking at replacing my muffler on my 89 RS v6 to give it a little more of a rumble. Right now I have straight pipes but it's inspection time soon Any recommendations on a good sounding muffler? I'd like a deeper sound rather than something that would sound like a Honda. Thanks!

Re: Louder Exhaust

You do need a tail pipe, if it just dumps out the muffler, its just an open loud pipe. mine is in the cat location, and full pipe out the back.

Do you just have a glasspack on it? My muffler rotted off right where it connected to the pipe.

Re: Louder Exhaust

single glass pack up in that valley where pan meets floor up front, I cut the end of my Ypipe off so it points straight down the side, not in towards the middle.

I'd probably just put it where the stock muffler was and add a pipe coming out the back

Re: Louder Exhaust

Really hard to find anything that doesn't make the 2.8 sound like a huge exhaust leak or a little import.

I'd like to hear a setup with headers! Too bad they seem so rare.

that will sound like total crap . and honestly when u put it in the cat's location the muffler still does nothing , its all the pipe after the glasspack that quiets it down
