sputter and misfires
ok well the maro started backfire/missing last saturday but rpm were sporadic....thought maybe it was the ignition coil...no dice coil is stool good because it starts without any problem...thought maybe fuel pump...floored the **** out of it when it wasn't sputtering no problem....it started to miss while idle a couple days ago.....thought maybe it could be MAF unplugged and no dice...so finally thought about sporadic rpm....pulled EST wire OMG no more rpm jumping and sporadicness....so...my question is am I right to believe that this is dealing with the damn ECM! is it going out?

well I change the entire distributor and no dice...still does it and now I'm having cranking issues...could be because the engine is hot and the pistons are expanded...cuz it's being a straight pita right now...so going to let the car sit and kool so I can set the timing...it won't stay running long enough to set it while its hot! so yeah...icm is a bust so fasteddie if you could chime in do you think i'm right about the computer being a gonner

I'd still get the ICM tested. Just cause its new don't mean it ain't broke. ICMs tend to be somewhat fragile, if the box was dropped at any time it could be a gonner. I installed a brand new cardone dizzy in my car and the rotor phasing was wrong out of the box. Plus the rotor was crap and the strap was too short. I had to make a Frankenstein rotor to make it work. Swapped the old strap to the new rotor.
