91 camaro rs 3.1 timing keeps going off
Hey I'll tell ya im almost about to sell this darn thing. 91 camaro rs 3.1
New
dist cap
Rotor
Timing gears and chain
Dist clamp extremely tight
The timing keeps going off, just died on me today to work and I was going 45, last time I floored it to pass someone and the timing got thrown off, check the timing and it was off by atleast 30° basically so bad ill idle at 400rpm and wont be able to go over 30mph. The cam is good, the lifters are good, good fuel pressure, good vaccuum, last time this happened my plugs were blacked almost completely so I went ahead and replaced them, also when I was driving it was like I didnt give it any throttle it just slowed and I had no brakes, but I have vaccuum? Need any more information let me know.

The magnetic star wheel is likely loose on the distributor shaft. If so need either a new shaft assembly or a new distributor.
While checking that also check that the distributor base plate is still firmly attached to the distributor body. The base plate being the piece that the cap attaches to.
