Aw, dammit...

Figures... I finish taking my last final, and did pretty good on it, so I'm happy as hell. I'm backing out of my parking space, and making sure I don't hit the car behind me. I have plenty of room, so I tap the gas to go further- and smack a telephone pole -just- as I hit the gas. I cracked the paint in the corner of my back bumper, and ripped the urethane a bit- dammit! Oh well- at least -this- time, -I- did the damage to the back bumper instead of someone else. Looks like I have a project for my winter vacation!

Tom, Cold and plastic don't mix.
They crack.
From one that owns a 1974 Corvette with the original Plastic bumper caps.
Pep Bots sells aplastic bumper fix kit.
BUT, go to an auto body shop and get theirs.
I paid about $30 for my kit.
I may go get new caps at the wrecking yard, instead, tho.
Not sure, yet.
Still cheaper than hitting some one else car!
GOOD FOR YOU on tests

Congratulations on finishing up with your finals.

Bummer about your car though.

I needed to repair a rear bumper cover on one of our Firebirds and I ended up finding another bumper cover for only $20.00.

It might be cheaper for you to look around than it would be fixing the one you have.

I wish you well on whatever you decide!

It feels so good to have a few weeks off... I love college- but hate the tests. Yeah, I'm "torn" between the two decisions... I have the plastic bumper repair kit already, and used it once on the back bumper and front bumpers (before I got the paint job). But, a junkyard bumper might be the better deal for me... and might require less sanding!

The bummer is that my Pennsylvania junkyard trip next week has been called off; looks like we'll reschedule it for January. Instead of looking for random parts, I'll be looking at bumpers!

Hey TomP try 3M weatherstrip adhesive . I used it on my front aero cowling and it hasnt come back apart yet.
Apply it right down the split and use masking tape to hold it together until the adhesive dries then just add touch up paint.
