Jack it up under the crossmember (the thing the engine sits on) and put the jackstands on the frame rails just behind the front wheels and in towards the center of the car a bit. They're huge metal rails, can't miss them.

I jack mine up under the k-member in front and the jack stands under the control arms. Under the axle housing in rear or rear control arm bracket.

Dont worry about it flexing, and u can jack it up any way you feel comfortable just chalk the wheels when ya do it, and as far as how high its all up to you and what you are doing to it

I suggest jacking it up by the middle in front on the crossmember like I said above. You can jack up just one side if you really want too, wouldn't hurt it.

Lifted the car from under the rear end, and since the car was at a bit of an angle, we put two jack stands under the drivers side subframe connector and one under the passenger side. I definitly wouldn't do this again (wasn't my house), but we made sure the car was very solid.

for the front, I jack the car under the k member. Incase you aren't familiar with it..

If you don't need to remove the wheels, then you might want to use ramps. Sometimes, I drive the car up on ramps, but if you do that and have ground effects in front, you have to be careful and maybe even use a 2x4 in front of the ramp to make sure the gfx don't get wrecked. Or, you can jack the car up from the engine crossmember or the rear differential housing and then put the ramps under the wheels and lower the car. I have 6 ton jack stands that I like, but sometimes I feel like good quality ramps are safer.

I have resorted to driving my car on top of those cement blocks in parking spaces. More than enough room to crawl under and get the oil changed

i ussually end up having to jack mine up in the spring pocket area on the front Arms since that is the only place my floor jack will fit ( the k-member actually sits lower than the jack lol) for the rear i jack it up using the cnter like everyone else. For the jack stands same thing.. i use the frame rails. or the rear axel (where the Pads are) on my 83.... the 84's are both up far enough that i can use the k-member. but still put the jack stands in place ( although on the z28 i have to use the lower control arm mounts due to the sway bar being in the way otherwise)

Yeah, the wheels are going to turn when they are up in the air. The best thing to do is to just slightly break loose all of the lugs before you jack the car up. That way, you won't turn the wheel when you put all that torque into the lugs while trying to break them free. If you don't want to lower the car again to do this, you'll just have to have someone hold the wheel while you break the lugs free.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
dont understand why the front wheels arent locked
Mostly because these cars aren't front wheel drive. Or 4-wheel drive.

Park locks the drive wheels, to whatever extent the differential allows. If a wheel isn't a drive wheel, then Park won't have any connection to it.

Parking brakes only exist on the rear wheels. Even on FWD or 4WD vehicles.

Up until only a very few years ago, NO cars locked their front wheels when in Park.
