3RD brake light...
3RD brake light...
ok i have yet to see a late 3rd gen camaro that actually has one that works... im guessin its a piece o crap part...
anyways.. even with new bulb... i cant get th bulb to light up... im leaning towards the fact that the bulb doesnt stay in there... and never feels as if its "locked" in...
anyone else realize theirs doesnt work and fix it?... i think that its jus the connection that is bad... which would explain y it doesnt click in and hold the bulb... im no electrician by any means.. but i understand the basics...
suggestions on how to fix it?
thanks fellas... and ladies.. althou i havent seen many of em..
Happy Holidays...
PS i posted it in electronics also but i posted it in here.. cus u guys are my fellow 6ers .. and jus maybe tis a common v6 prolem.. doubt it.. but tis possible i guess

Oh, and make sure the connection between the hatch and the body is clean. You know that metal plate next to the hatch motor? That's it.
EDIT: I forgot they moved the 3rd brake light in 91. I'm not sure how those are wired but you can still check it with a test light.

bulb's not lockin' in, eh? I had this problem with the rear turn signal lamp not to long ago (someone launched a shopping cart into the back of the car and shatterd the lens...busted bulbs..) I was trying to put in the new bulb and it wouldnt turn all the way into the locked postion. I noticed that the bulb i was tring to use was the wrong one due to the little bumps on the side of the bulb were in the wrong postion. one bump should have been lower than the other one. the buld arent like that on the 86 3rd brake light but if you have the late 3rd gen 3rd brk light it might be differnt..
There is a small pod just past the hatch on the head liner there is a conector in there. Makes ure it is pluged in and clean. I'm still trying to get mine to work on my '92 RS. The guy who owned it before me strip the screw in the small pod so I haven't gotten into it just yet. ALso you may want to check the fuse for it. I belive it is on a different fuse then the rest of the brake lights (i could be wrong thou).

My 3rd brake light works. But when it was painted the person who put it back together forgot the one of hte pieces that touches to make the connection. So I have min hard wired with about 3 feet of wire. Ugly I know, but try this, it will tell you it the plats are not making goo enough contact or not.
