Unidentified Car Part, V6 3.1 - with Pic

Hi all

Was working on my V6 todayand spotted that this tube was hanging lose by the passengerside firewall, near the distributorcap. I followed the cable and it disappears underneath the MAPsensor into a collection of cables. After that I can't seem to track it further. No it's not the vacuumhose for the MAP sensor, and it's not a sparkplugwire. It's about the size of a cap on a pen.

Anybody an idea what this could be?
Much appreciated

Do your HVAC controls work? My guess it's to that.

Thanks!

My HVAC Controls work, sort of.

I can switch to different settings from Normal to Airco.
It blows air, but I actually have some issues with my HVAC

- When i have the blower on, no airco and temp. al the way in cold, the air blown out still feels 'warmish'
- My AC isn't working properly. The Compressor isn't working properly, but in the Netherlands it isn't always that hot
i'll fix that next year

But if this is part of the HVAC Controls, anybody an idea what it is? And where it goes?

Thanks!

I believe it plugs into the heater control valve, which appears to have been removed

Well, i think you have a point there
Just read this topic - https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/v6/6...rol-valve.html & read an other topic and it's all coming together.

First topic, one person describes he has bypassed the HCV with the knowledge he'll have slight warm air in the summer. I looked further and found an other topic with the actual cannister where the HCV should go on.

See the picture, can anybody tell me where it's located in the engine bay

Thanks!

Re: Unidentified Car Part, V6 3.1 - with Pic - SOLVED

After some searching, I can conclude that the Valve has been removed

Oh well, that makes perfect sence why my cold-air blower always is a little bit warm

thanks all

passenger side of the engine twards the alternator, more then likley it has been bypassed and removed , due to the fact the plastic valve always breaks and causes u to loose all ur coolant , alls it does it stop warm/hot coolant from being sent threw the heater core when u have the selector set to cold.

iirc i dont even think u can get a new valve from the parts store anymore , and installing a used one is not a good idea because they get very brittle over the years from all the heat till they finally just crack and break
