DRAG WEEK 2017 - 3900V6 Camaro is in.
Yes, I got my spot. Will be running street machine Eliminator in the V6 Camaro. Myself as well as my co-driver are friggin' stoked.
First I will link the build thread of the car because I know people will ask, so there's that :
This thread has the 3500 GT4088R to 3900 BW369SXE details, race winnings, ect..
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/v6/6...8-buildup.html
This is an older thread about the 3400 swap, ect...
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/v6/5...00-t-88-a.html
Ok, now as far as what I want to accomplish at drag week. My #1 Goal is to have fun and compete, meet new people and just have a great week overall. Should be a fun holiday.
I would LOVE to run the "top32" braket race on the final day. Last year the slowest car to make the cut had an 11.14 average I believe it was. I HOPE I can get around a high 10 sec. average for the week, which should allow me to compete in the braket.
I have some testing and work to do to the car for sure. I have always ran my weekend races at around 5 PSI boost, this summer I will be stepping that up to 10+. Just want to make sure everything is OK at the higher boost pressure. Eventually I'd like to settle around 12-13 PSI and hope to hell the 3900 can take it, over and over.
I have some stuff to accomplish still to pass the 10.99 tech. I have gotten some MOSER axles made up for the stock 9 bolt rear end. (I think I am one of the quicker people to still run a 9 bolt, but it seems to take the abuse very well) I have a drag spool and stud girdle on it, so that is helping no doubt.
That takes care of the rear end, already has factory axle retention, so it will be legit to pass tech after I slap the new shafts in.
I will get my TH350 trans re-built and looked over by a local race / trans shop as soon as the car comes out of storage. So that should be strong.
I will need a trans shield installed, so I will do that. (anyone have a favorite??) Likely have to cut / mod out trans tunnel.
I also need a TH350 locking NHRA approved disptick... I will look into this.
I think I will make a new upper rad support and re-mount my trans cooler a little better then it is now. (currently using those crappy plastic locking zipties to hold the cooler on) Those will be gone for something more reliable, same with a better fan shroud setup.
Then of course there are comfort items, I will be putting in cupholders, USB charging ports, maybe an inverter to charge laptop, ect... Will be taking the car on some 15-200 mile trips this summer to get the comfort items figured out. Maybe a small fan..
Going to build a hitch mounted rack, tire / cooler carrier.
Undecided on tires, I want to go to a front radial tire and ditch my MH frontrunners and MAYBE try the new radial slicks that people seem to really like.
Not really sure what else to say, I'll post more details as they become available.

I'll see ya there. I'm going to come watch the first day at Cordova. I've never seen these fast cars run and am looking forward to that experience.

the stock crank is forged steel, no upgrade needed. Pauter makes an aftermarket forged rod. and I have found several drop in forged pistons designed for a ls1 but do fit that gets compression close to stock, and above for those staying n/a. I believe I posted these pistons in my 3900 inspiration thread.

Yes, we built a hitch, re-wired the camaro tails to the trans am style so that the red lights are the turn and stop lights and no more amber turn signals so that my trailer wiring would work.
We picked up this little trailer for the car.
Moser axles are in.
Ran a race this past weekend, only went 4 rounds, but car was running great. Good gas mileage on the way. Only at 5 psi again (7.4-7.5) in 660'
Have around 1000 miles on the street so far, went for a few cruises, taking the car to work, ect...
I picked up a new TCI Streetfighter TH350 trans for it, we will install it this week.
Next race is Aug. 13 and I will be running some higher boost levels. hopefully in the 7.1 - 7.2 range in the 1/8, not looking to set PB's just run in the low low 11 sec range.

Awsome mars. That's cool man. Good luck and have some fun. I plan to cone and watch at least one race so hopefully I can watch.
let me know how the tci street fighter goes. I was close to getting a tci for mine but ended up getting A modded 35-2dr from hughes with a brake.

Re: DRAG WEEK 2017 - 3900V6 Camaro is in.
Finished the week ! Made the top32 !!
Average ET was a 10.92 Best run was a 10.48.
Went out in round1 bracket race unfortunately though on the last day. Car ran great, there is however a loud noice coming from either the trans or the rear end. Will investigate soon.
Sooo much fun though! Met alot of great people!
