Hey,

I guy told me I could add a "Police Interceptor" chip in my v-6 and add 110 hp. Is this true?? He said the chip retailed for about $700-750. Please respond, thanks

Do not buy it... your car has 135-140 hp stock. Just think about this logically how will a chip almost double your HP???

#2, the Police interceptor was a V-8...so even if this "chip" was that good which I doubt it was... it would not even work on your V-6.

A chip is usually good for 10-15 HP with the right mods, just to make the point clear.

 

Whoever told you this is either:

A) The stupidest person on the face of the earth, or

B) Trying to take advantage of you.

Whichever it is, don't buy the chip and I suggest you browse the boards and try to learn as much as you can. If you can do repairs yourself, YOU save money. The more you know, the more you can do(and people won't be able to take advantage of you).

 

Police cars (Mustang & Camaro) do not have special chips, that is a rumor. All police cars have are better alternators cassette delete and usually no power options. My friends dad is the local police seargant and my other buds dad works on the state cars at the local govt. garage. No special chips in them. Except the Impala, caprice and Crown Vic to get ri of top speed limiters but that is all.
