my 91 camaro rs v6 tachometer goes straight past redline when started up
when you start the car, the tach goes straight past redline and stays there the entre time, the gauge was replaced once to see if it fixed the problem, but the new gauge did the same thing. it is a v6 3.1 litre. ive heard it could be the signal wire or some type of sensor, or maybe even a bad resistor. im a senior in highschool in automotive class just looking for some extra help, any thoughts?

there is a resistor chip in the guage cluster that costs about 90 bucks on ebay and will fix the tach. if you search for tachs for your 91 it will pop up in ebay. i just replaced mine with a pro comp tach instead

the signal wire is fine, otherwise it wouldnt bottom out, it would stay at zero
