Lost power?

So I replaced by distributor and now I’ve lost a ton of power and of this time correctly. It feels sluggish but can drive normal speeds. It feels like the rpm climb is slower than before aswell. Going up slight inclines at nearly 2300rpm and it’s loosing speed whilst before it would climb at that rpm. I’m very confused maybe a kind of “Limp” mode? I haven’t a clue as to why it’s like this! Please help asap!

Re: Lost power?

If you replaced the distributor and now you have a loss of power, check for plug wires to connected properly and double check timing. It sounds like you didn't get timing set right though. Did you disconnect the EST wire, let the engine warm up and then set timing to 10 degrees at proper idle?

Re: Lost power?

After I got it running I brought it to a shop for them to double check the timing and they said I was timed correctly. I just looked up a few things about that wire you mentioned and I did not do that so I’m going to warm my car up unplug the wires plug them back in and disconnect the battery and see if that helps I

Re: Lost power?

Did they do it correctly? lol Why did you replace the distributor? Were you having issues like this before?

Re: Lost power?

I believe so, and because the distributor cap screws were snapped off inside by the previous owner and the connections looked sketchy I just finished unplugging that wire and plugging it back in the battery after going through the process so I’m a take it for test drive and I’ll be back

Re: Lost power?

It still feels more sluggish than before I replaced the distributor. I haven’t a clue why
