What is the best repair manual for a 1986 Sc with MPFI?
Well that depends on what you're looking to do. Haynes and Chiltion Manuals are always a good bet for mechanical, but if you're looking for body info there are a couple on that subject too. A simple google or eBay search should provide you with the info you're looking for. There are a lot of paper options as well as downloadable manuals.
I purchased the 86 SC from someone who had started to tear down the engine. I need to be able to tell where things go when I am putting it back together. Things like the coil pack and bracket. I have tried to find pics but none show that. He had removed the throttle body and plenum and lost the bolts.
There are three books put out by GM that will cover everything you need. First is the bible of books the "Parts and Accessories Catalog" which was supplied to dealerships and contains all of the diagrams and part numbers for our cars. They are really hard to find in book from though, but I believe you can find them in a digital format. If you're able to locate one look for the 1982-92 version since it will be the most complete.
Second are the "Service Manual Supplement" books that were put out for each year of the camaro and Firebird. These can be easily found on Ebay as books or Digital format.
Last is the "Body Assembly" Manual for you specific year. These can also be found online in book and digital format.
I also recommend getting a Haynes and Chilton Manual.
If you can find copies of these books it will give you all of the info you could ever want on our cars.

Find an original Helm Factory Shop manual; they're out there, but you'll have to dig to find one. Aftermarket manuals don't provide anywhere near the amount of info or diagrams that the factory item provides, and can't be trusted regarding specs, especially where wiring diagram accuracy and color coding is concerned.
I bought mine right after I bought my '86 IROC new back in '86; IIRC, it cost a little over $80.00 at the time (expensive, yes, but worth every cent, especially today).
