A.I.R. System check valve
so i heard a strange kind of gurgling sound out of the engine bay when the engine is cold or hot, i removed the air pump and
noticed that the air check valve makes this sound .
it pulls air past the valve in the exhaust manifold i bought a new check valve but it was better with the old one
is this normal ?

THANKS

Re: A.I.R. System check valve
could be
the brand is Standard
i did test it with the factory one sounds better
but it seems not right to me
it sucks air into the exhaust not exhaust though the valve

Re: A.I.R. System check valve
The valve is supposed to keep the exhaust from flowing back into the air system when the air is diverted to atmosphere. You can take the valve off and screw a pipe cap on, and aside from emissions going up a touch, it'll run the same with no noise.

Re: A.I.R. System check valve
unable to bypass emission related stuff where i live
i can not believe that the check valve should pass air like this into manifold ( i think i should have a little resistance that the air pump has to overcome when the
air control valve at the backside of the pump opens.
all so the car runs too rich but only at idle

Re: A.I.R. System check valve
It's just a 1-way valve. Air should flow in freely, exhaust shouldn't flow out. The air pump doesn't generate much pressure. A lot of the air hoses aren't even clamped.
