86 2.8L cranks and occasionally sputters, but won’t start
Hey,
so a couple weeks back I picked up a 1986 Firebird 2.8L MPFI, the thing was dead when I looked at it, (guy said it had sat for a month) shot it with ether and jumped the battery and it fired right up, came back to load it onto the trailer two days later, and had trouble...The starter kicked out and it cranked but didn’t turn over. I played with the fuses and fuel lines, for a day, found it was getting spark and fuel, pulled the plugs and it was running very rich. I cleaned the plugs and changed all fuses that were heavily corroded, and it fired up and I could turn it over and run it for about 3 days, after which I saw the fuel return line was leaking and I took it out and was waiting on the replacement line, and also replaced the IAC and the Fuel pressure regulator at that time. Now, as of today, having received the line finally I put it in, and now am back to square one. The car cranks and cranks but will not turn over, will not start on fluid, but is consistently getting spark and fuel, holds around 40-45 PSI at the rail. Would anyone here have any idea as to what I should check next? As re-pulling fuses and the like as I did the last time has not yielded the previous result, and I re-checked for any leaks and made sure the Plenum and gaskets were properly seated together as well as double checked all my work on the top end and I’m stumped!
