gvw: what the vehicle weighs @ full capacity, i.e. all passangers, full crgo, full tank of gas. my bonneville has a gvw of 6198. you just need the smallest one. Hook-up like this:

Tranny line out to cooler in.
Cooler out to rad in.
Rad out to tranny in.

never bypass the radiator. The fluid needs to keep warm in the winter, & the radiator will do this, plus give extra cooling in summer.

I did it to mine before it went. I got about an extra 10K out of it because of it. Then the seals all just said good bye and it leaked like water out of the hose. Well worth it and should have come stock..

Last time I'll say these things.
Check the tranny cooler idea on the TRANNY SIDE.
REALLY suggest you shop for a tranny shop, instead.
IT's so cold now, what difference will a tranny cooler make, anyway?
Besides, exactly where will you place it?
I gave my extra tranny cooler to Graeme for his Chevelle (when he had it).

You cannot bandaid a worn down tranny.
Only rebuild them.

BE honest, how much abuse did you give the tranny when you replaced the old 2.8 engine (upshifting manually & down shifting manually)?
How much trans braking/laying rubber did you do, also?
And have you asked this question on the TRANNY Side?

Karl , I babied it today heh . I don't drive it hard too often , honestly . I am real bad about being on the interstate lugging it sometimes ..heh ..I go through spurts where i like to floor it 3 or 4 times in a row from a stop , but not very often at all .I babied it today though , I drove it(accelerated) like a grey headed old man behind the wheel of a crownvic When I started it up this morning and put in in reverse it backed on up , did not hesitate at all ! ....I had a friend with a 95 mustang gt , he floored it everytime he took off , he had that car for about 6 months before he tore up the transmission in it . So then he had to start driving his Mom's 99 camaro with an automatic , he then tore up the tranny in that !!! I WOULD REALLY like to get 200k miles out of this tranny , I will baby it till then , IF I CAN GO THAT FAR ! ...but if I can't looks like I will be taking it to the tranny shop .My Uncle knows of some real good tranny places So I'll talk to him if this thing bites the dust soon ! .In the meantime I might buy me a 700r4 out of the junkyard to pittle with .See if I can learn how to re-build it .Is that hard to do ?

Actualy, it is not to difficult.
The trick is the spring pack compressor tools.
Without that tool, you cannot make the tranny go back together.
What is wise is knowing a good shop and asking them to go for a ride to decide the condition of the tranny.
Best solution.
