Does a breaker points distributor exist that will fit a 3.4?
Does a breaker points distributor exist that will fit a 3.4?
Yes I know HEI is thought to be an upgrade from the old breaker points distributors but I think for reliability and simplicity there are advantages. Im just wondering if a breaker points distributor exists for the 3.4? Maybe a distributor from an older gm engine will fit? GM is famous for interchanging parts. What interchanges dimensionally? or aftermarket? not likely but some racers prefer it and as far as reliabilty I know a lot of airplanes still use them. All the old muscle cars of yesteryear used points distributors. Lastly is it possible to take a stock distributor and have it converted to points?
Thanks

Re: Does a breaker points distributor exist that will fit a 3.4?
All production 60° V6 engines were equipped with an HEI ignition system. Early S10s had distributors with a vacuum advance can and centrifugal advance. Likely the easiest to convert to points.

Thank you for your reply. I have the early one with vac and centrifugal advance. Do you have any idea how I would go about converting it to points? Much appreciated. Thanks.
