EGR Connector

Working on my Code 32 and found when I took the EGR Valve off that the connector is mostly falling apart and one pin inside the EGR valve is bent over a bit. So, I need to get a new connector. Anybody know where I can order one or am I stuck looking in Pick n Pull places? Anybody know what other vehicles and years that use the same valve and connector as 90-92 Camaros and Firebirds are non existent in my area yards.

Thanks...

Re: EGR Connector

Might ask @firebirddude142 if he has the connector for the 3.1L egr valve.

Re: EGR Connector

This is the electronic solenoid valves (digital EGR Valve so no vacuum lines). I found an Airtex part number but only one company listing it and it doesn't look like they carry the connector anymore. At least on their site they showed a list of vehicles from GM (Buick, Chev, Olds, and Pontiac) that are supposed to use the same one. I have a Pick n Pull just up the freeway that has a 94 Olds Cutlass Ciera station wagon and a 94 Buick LeSabre listed that may have one. Heading up there in the morning (Monday) to see if there is a good used connector.

Wow, thanks for posting the list. It has a lot more cars on it than the short list that I found. Off to the Pick n Pull yard....

Re: EGR Connector

Success on finding a connector! Got to the Pick n Pull yard right after they moved the car (Beretta) that I went to check to the crusher so searched through the remaining cars and found two with the digital EGR valve. I pulled my EGR valve off and bench tested it. Only one of the three solenoids is working. I also found that my connector after pulling the wire loom (melted) and tape off was in really, really bad shape with bare wires. I ordered a new EGR valve to arrive today and picking up some extra wire so I can splice in extra length on the pigtail I got from the donor car to make it easier to route. I found this pdf elsewhere in the forums which helped in bench testing but this is for a 3.4L and the wire colors are different on my car.

Re: EGR Connector

No more Code 32..... Just took the car out for a test drive.. Put about 20 miles on it and no more Code 32 at all.. So, in summary, I had to fix some major exhaust leaks, replace the plug to the EGR, and put on a new EGR.. I have been fighting the problem for years and all along I think it was mostly the frayed wires in the EGR connector which I couldn't see because of the tape and wire loom over it. My guess is that the 3 signal lines were shorting together and that led to the EGR plugging up two of the three solenoids... If you haven't solved your problem, check the EGR plug wires under the cap...
