Re: 2.8 Been sitting a while

Hey, I'm doing the same; my 86 2.8 has sat for about 6 years. Time goes by so fast! Had to replace my fuel pump, now I have spark but think my fuel's gone bad.

Do you know why the car was parked for years? That could be a clue too. Or did anyone work on it since it was parked? (#1 cylinder on a 2.8 is front passenger cylinder, not like a v8)

No spark could be a few things, start easy first. Find the spark coil, there's a black 2-wire connector that goes to the spark module in the distributor (picks up the pulses and says when to fire the coil), and a gray connector that's basically +12 and ground (power supply for the coil). Unhook the gray connector, then turn the key to "on" (not cranking), and put a voltmeter between the gray connector's pink/black wire (+) and battery negative. Does the meter say +12 volts?
