ANYONE WITH A 3.1 AND 5 SPEED please come in
i need to know where you idle at
and at what RPM you do 50, 55, 60, 65 MPH in 5th gear
please only post if you have stock gears

best i can remember, my 91 (3.1 w/ T5) would idle between 1.2k when cold and 800 when warm. i dont remember where 50+ was. i thnk it was bout 2k in 5th. i hope that helps.

It should be NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE for your tach to ever screw up.
It's electric. It reads an electric signal. THE ONLY WAY it can honestly screw up is the source of the signal. Or you bent the needle.
Bad worn wires are a prime source. Have you removed your instrument panel lately? That may jar connection, too.

I idle at about 750 to 800 at normal operating temp. The only thing I can remember in 5th is if I am going 45 mph than the tach is at 1500 rpms. Sorry I'm not much help.
