My 90 3.1 bird has been a turd for some time now mpgs in the 10s and it was running rougher and rougher every time I drove it. Last time I took it out I barely made it home.

puller the old injectors swapped them with Bosch injectors new fpr cleaned up the iac. When I was running it after everything was swapped over I kept hearing this tapping. It was running cleaner ( it was so rich before your eyes would water ). But still rough. I started looking around in the dark and found the coil pack was arcing from the bottom of the pack to the valve cover.

is a factory replacement the way to go or a performance coil of some sort like an msd or accel?

 

A factory replacement will work just fine.
