Re: 92 , 3.1 valve cover thread size ?

For a 1992 3.1L engine, the valve cover bolts typically use M6 x 1.0 thread size. It’s important to check the thread pitch and length before purchasing replacements to avoid stripping the aluminum covers. Using the correct size ensures a proper seal and prevents oil leaks, which is common if the wrong bolts are used.

Those studs will either be 6mm x1.0, or 8mm x1.25... I don't remember for certain and I'm too lazy to walk out to the shop. 98% sure they are 6mm though.

Yep, 6mm x 1.0, according to the Fiero forums. I run Fiero valve covers on my car with a mix of the Fiero bolts and 3.1 studs (which are standard btw), so I can confirm they fit.

Are you saying the 3.1 heads are drilled for standard thread? I don't remember that at all. The 60° v6 was designed pretty much as all metric, aside from NPT ports.

Don't worry about proving me wrong, I'll just do that myself when curiosity gets the better of me, lol.

Sorry if there was some confusion, when I say "standard", I mean the 3.1 came with the studs from factory. They are indeed metric, M6 x 1.0
