if you live in an area controlled by the EPA... not advisable, I have heard conflicting stories wiether or not it will effect the sniffer. But if theres not an EPA guy to be seen(Like in my area) rip the damn thing out and put in a spacer pipe. Otherwise I would suggest getting a high flow Catco cat for 60 bucks and have the increased exhaust flow, and still be EPA freindly.
Sorry but to answer your question take it out, get a metal rod and a hammer. Place metal rod in cat hit with hammer. Continue untill parts start falling out. Look through it every once in a while to see the size of the opening that you have created.

yea, thats the way i did it. took a crowbar, stuck it in there and hammered away at those ceramic pieces until they were small enuff to fit through the opening. Then theres the fun part, Start the car up and rev it a couple times to get the pieces out. hehe its loud, just member not to do it in your garage or an enclosed space.

Just go to your local pet store. In my opinion, no they don't do much but make messes and shed.
Ok, sorry. Back to the real answers.

snowbird Sorry again. I thought it said GET a cat. I won't even go into gutting a cat.

ive heard of ppl having problems with a gutted cat. some do and some dont. IMO ur better getting a high flow cat or running no cat. if ur someplace that doesnt have smog cr@p, i would run no cat.

Well not adviseable if the cat is still alive. First kill it, then all you need is a good Buck knife, that sould do it.

Why kill it if you don't like cats in the first place?.... It's gonna die anyway why waste the time? and why dull a good blade?(especially on a cat!) butter knife otta do it.Originally posted by Kj Rockz

I tried taking my cat off to gut it and ran into trouble when the CIA surveilence equipment (they're watching me) messed with the plate in my head and I got my cats confused and it clawed me good when I tried putting it back on, and the thought occured to me, "how many 'N's has September?"
Anyway, has anyone tried removing the air striker from the dog between the blinker fluid tank and the flux capacitor?
Sorry, It's late and I'm tired.

I buried 2 cats when I was growing up, retty sure they're gutted by now. If you wanted a gutted catalytic convertor, you should have posted earlier. when I took apart my exhaust, it came w/ a gutted cat(alytic convertor).
the only other cats that should be gutted are the ones that atain ****tie kitty status
and remember tampering with with emissions equipment is a federal offense :nono: , but only if you're cought.

Let me tell you the easiest way to gut a cat. PLEASE CAT ACCTIVISTS LOOK AWAY!! Get some glass(preferbably mirror, tell you later
Now crush the glass up into very small pieces and place the broken pieces in an average size ceramic mixing bowl. Open a can of tuna, whichever brand it does not matter(Cats don't talk therefore they can't complain! Now if my Wife couldn't talk...hmmmmm
) Now place the tuna in the mixing bowl,do not forget to drain the juice. Mix the ingredients until the mix of tuna and glass is uniform. Now place the mixture on a paper plate(why waste good dishes on a cat!?
) Now sit back and wait for the cat to chow down,as soon as the cat begins to eat, notice how the gutting has started to take place, follow the cat around and wait for it to use number 2, watch carefully now....remember what I said about the shards of mirror? Now you can see the reflection of the cats insides as they all come out of its butt! Consider that cat gutted!!!
As far as gutting the cat in reality, would I be better off buying a high flow or just removing mine? I do not have emmissions in my state.
The recipe above is just a joke
I have never done it nor will I ever.

I hate to interrupt a truly sick train of thought with a serious comment :-;, but anyone considering banging out the insides of a catastrophic perverter should be aware that the dust that is released is very toxic and you should use some REALLY good breathing protection while around it - especially if as someone suggested you run the engine to blow it out.

If you want to do the job yourself, you shouldn't get the universal catalytic convertor that someone mentioned. You'll have a hell of a time bolting it up! Buy the direct bolt-in Catco cat for our cars, it's part #4115. (If you order that from summitracing.com, make that into part #CTO-4115. It's the correct cat for our cars- 2.5" inlet, 2.5" flanged ball outlet-- but it's $80. If you're going to do it yourself (and I don't see why not), it's the better deal.
