Well she is still in the shop, but they are telling me it is the distributor.
They told me she would be good on monday
we will see about that.
I'm hoping they don't find any other problems after this one.
It's going to cost like $450. Fu*kiness. Well there goes my 4th gen seats. oh well, I guess it's better to drive, than not.
I'll let you know....

IF they do what I had to do (& others) the hardest part is placing the distb back in correctly.
I NEVER rebuild a distrib before & I had no true guidence.
Just friend letting me use his shop.
Once you remove the pin in the distb base, it's all so simple.
They replaced the coil in the shaft area under the rotor.
The item with the pointy contacts, the magnet broke & they replaced that too.
Labor cost is high, due to getting that bolt back into the engine to hold distb in place.
That's why I made my own stud bolt set up to hold distb in place.
Much easier to lock/hold in distb that way.
ASK FOR ALL THE OLD WORN OUT PARTS!

Just do the old look in the dark test and see if your coil and wires are good. I always do this test and find my problems. The problem on 3rd gen is the coil location. It's right next to the EGR valve and gets the SH*T cooked out of it then starts leaking to ground. You think you have all these other problems like MAP and transmission dying and TPS going etc. But in reality you just have a dying coil.
I plan to relocate my coil as soon as MSD returns a new coil under warrenty since my other one got cooked so bad that it was glowing in the dark.
