3.4 swap modded

I plan on doing a 3.4 Swap in the fall, I plan on heavily modding this engine before I drop it in, I plan on keeping my dynomax cat back with high flow cat I'm going to buy soon for my 2.8L. I plan on boreing the 3.4L, headers, chip, maybe pullies, 2x roller chain, 195 thermo, CAI intake, NOS. How much horse you think I'll get from all these modes besides NOS. I think a 3.4L gets 160 horse stock. I will buy the engine for probly $750. How much you think the mods will cost. NOs is $500 I figure.

Really,
Here goes.
When I asked Extrude hone about my swap and trying to get a discount rate for volumn of businees for 60* work, I was told my intake is what's holding up my HP right now.
The guy is right, as the mismatching of the intake section is obvious when ya have it in your hand.
And the heads are quite fine.
Especially the 3.4.
IF you really want to spend money.......
Very simply buy a 3.4 with the least miles on it.
Swap in a new chain ($30)
Swap in a new water pump ($20)
Thermo, $5.
All that is obvious when ya do a swap, anyway. Those are givens.
Extrude hone will cost ya about $600 for the intake.
Now what I would do, is buy a long shank, mock up the intake and have fun.
Just port match.
Then see how big inside you can go.
But I doubt your hands have the consistancy to do it "evenly".
Heads.
New guides, only. Ya wanna play with them, I've seen them. They are a good design, as is. Not much you can truly do.
Exhaust is where ya make this engine.
Extrude hone the stock manifold pipes (for about $400), fix down flow of the engine (better Y pipe).
But all you be able to make is maybe 200, more likely breaking only 190 hp.
Add the 50 HP shot.

The 3.4, from the factory is the best of the best. By the GM Performance Parts Book (Measly $6!)
Buy the GM Performance Guide book, too. I have both. But my version is before the MPFI stuff. GM probably updated it quite well.
I have articles of Grumpy Jenkins breathing on this 60* engine, when it first came out. All it made by him was about 180+ HP. He made a custom intake (for a 4 bbl) and regound the cam. Headers.

Not discouraging ya, please.
Why do you think for a measly $800 cost to me, plus my own effort, I went from
I guess 130HP, then a blown engine, up to 165-170 HP, 200 Foot Pounds of torque, dead reliable
And I'm happy.
I plan on spending maybe another $100 or so for the Y Pipe set up.
You plan on spending upteen thousands, tons of physical effort and hoping to make more HP by maybe 30 N/A only?
Where's the return on investment?

No need to do too much to the 3.4 its such a solid engine. Like Ked said just really open up the intake and exhaust and you'll really tell a big difference then just throw a 50 or 75 Shot at it and you'll be happy with the performance. Remember You'll have a hard time pulling HP that v8s come with stock no matter what u do to your car.
