Don't EVER let anyone tell you that a V6 can't be worth good $$!!!
Ok, for all the people that posted on here last fall that I could never get over $3,000 for a mint V6, thought I'd share this with everyone...
I put my RS ('89 2.8 for those who didn't see the other post) out on the lot Monday night with $3995 on the windshield. I figure at that price, it would attract people in, they'd ask about it, and before they knew it was a 2.8 maybe go look at it...
Well, I had 6 people look at it by Saturday, 2 of which claimed they would be back because they had crate motors to put in it. Before they came back, not only did I get a full price offer, I sold them my snows AND the mother was off to get a bank check befoe the daughter even drove it!!!
So don't ever sell a mint V6 short...I got $4,250 total for a 13 year old V6 with almost 100k...not a bad price eh???
So I guess I am officially no longer a member of the V6 board
I am going to miss the car like hell, as it has been in the family since new. I'm sure it will never look this awesome again...I just pray it lives on for awhile and doesn't end up smashed up in a boneyard...
Its weird because I already have the check, the title has been signed over, and she's coming over to pick the car up in the morning...and it hasn't sunk in yet. I wonder what it will take...
Good luck to all you V6 guys, and don't ever sell your V6s short...er, cheap

This can also go along with my post about me selling my car. Even though I have since decided to keep it. It'll get a new trans soon, and I might be picking up a running parts car for it for 150 my mechanic... it came into his possesion from a customer who said "I don't want it fixed, accept the car as payment" The reason? Needs a clutch. He said if I pay towing costs to him and diagnostic labor (total 150ish) I can have it... sounds like a steal...
I am going to purchase a nice project car also. And I think I found one... 200 bucks for a beat to sh*t LG4 Firebird... I can probably tow it to my house for 150$. I'm going to stop and talk to the kid again sometime within the next 3 days...

I won't say what I paid for mine off a dealer lot. GRRRRRRRR I shoulda looked around first at private owners, BUT Me personally would not pay that much for a 60* V6 camaro. Hell I know where a good 'roc is sitting for that much and it only has 75K on it. Power everything and t tops.
You got that much cause "the father" was paying for it. But anyhow you got the $ so...

Camaro hunter...
The girl has to pay the mother back every penny...
You really had to see this car to understand. People who were looking at $4k IROCs even said it was a deal!!! Everyone who looked at it said, you just don't see 13 year old cars like this one anymore...there was more appeal to this car than having the "daddy pay for it..." if true Camaro buffs were willing to shell out $4k for it too!
I delivered it this morning...man, I need to get the Z28 out of hibernation

Most of us don't have the luxury of a carlot to put our cars on. A carlot vs a private seller or even a large corporate carlot vs a small mom-pop carlot is a completely different ballgame.
Congrats on the sale. I on the other hand got the ultimate Camaro.....free. No, it isn't beater. Grandma (my mother-in-law) bought it new in late 88 and babied it. For the past three years it has been sitting because she doesn't like to drive. Soooooo, I finally got it. I had been talking to her about it since she bought it. It needs paint, but other than that it is in great shape. Interior is mint (T-top bag needs a zipper
) and I am re-doing the suspension so it handles better. It has 74,000 easy miles on it and I took the original tires off of it two weeks ago! It is definately a keeper, I wish it were a V8, but I will live with the six, keeps me outta trouble!

jump6pack,
Your car sounds nearly identical to mine, only I got mine with 56k, and the paint was (and still is) perfect. You will enjoy that car a lot...I know I did mine. I know if I had never started working at a dealer, and did not have the ability to buy cars CHEAP...I would still have the car. But when I can buy a mint '95 Grand Am with 110k on it for $2,300, sell the Camaro for $4,000 and make money...its hard to say no sometimes.
Drew,
We're halfway in between...we're a mom and pop new car dealer
I know it helped out, but even in the local auto hunter and displaying it at my house, I think I could have still pulled $3,500 from it if I didn't mind sitting with it...which I did not.
Tom P,
I will check back with you guys
I don't even make it to thirdgen.org that much anymore, as I've been getting involved with the 5th gen and LT1 boards at camaroz28.com. I know I need to spend more time at good ol' thirdgen.org!! BTW...thanks for the endless questions you used to answer for me!! I still remember when I first started coming online, with you answering questions about chips for me over at f-body.com...thanks agin. So how many miles on the '86 now??? 230k or so??
