Hi idle cured!

Well after several posts, much good advice from the group and some luck the problem I was having with the 3.1 idling erraticly has been cured. FIrst, I had to replace the dash bulb some used car dealer had removed, then wait for the trouble to reoccur.
Prior to doing that it also developed a bogging, sputtering and lack of power..... at 1AM while my fiance was driving home in the middle of nowhere! Anyhow, the car made it home.
She called me from Virginia and I told her to take it somewhere to get it scanned (the car ran GREAT while I was using it) and they said she needed a knock sensor. I told her that sounded likely, as it could tell the ECM to advance the timing (the high idle when cold) or retard it severely (the loss of power)
She then said "That's good, I got on thirdgen while I waited on you to call back and read the answers to your post about possible reasons the SES light stays on, and someone said to test the knock sensor"
Whatta gal! Glad I don't get on here and complain about her!
Anyway, thirty bucks for the scan, forty two for the sensor, and she's runnin' great!f
MY Fiance does ask this: Why does every small town auto repair shop have someone named "Goose", "Snook" or "Bubba" working there, and why is there always some old dude in greasy overalls who's job is to leer at young attractive female customers?

Eric

I had that job once! Only difference was that I'm not old.

Tell her to think of it this way. You have a bunch guys working in a shop who only get to look at each other all day. Now a pretty young lady comes walking in. Every one drops thier tools and comes running!! It's nature!
