I agree with the above. I'm just getting the car back together for the third time after I got two bad clutches from local auto parts stores. I now have the RAM stock clutch and it looks like a much stronger and overall better piece than the regular auto parts store ones. And when you by the replacement, get a clutch set which includes a new throwout bearing, pressure plate, disc and alignment tool.
EDIT: Also make sure to get the flywheel turned.
Moral of the story: Don't go cheap on clutch work. You do not want to redo it because dropping the tranny is a pain to do yourself and expensive for a shop.
Just my $0.02

Has anyone heard of a Luk clutch? They're at Dial a Clutch.com I dunno much except they're standard clutch is 100 bucks and they dont list the firbeid for a Pro Gold series but its the same clutch as in the Jimmys and s10's that are 9 1/8 inch. Any help please.

I believe my cluth was 156 from summit/carparts.com I forget which. I got centerforce upgrade, as even stock engine with stock clutch it STILL slipped. Got the upgraded one and HOLY $HIT It grabs NICE. 30% holding over stock is the one I got. HAD TO CALL THEM though. Though it only last about 2 years.... this one I can feel is wearing out. It will have to be replaced this winter...

LUK clutches are sold at autozone. I use(d) them.
My disc blew apart last night. Kinda interesting.. I gotta go yell at the manager now.

I would go with a Borg Warner clutch replacement set . It comes with the pilot bushing , alignment tool , pressure plate, clutch disk, and throwout bearing. It is all new not remanufactured.
I have installed about ten of these on differant vehicles and they have all worked great. I would also replace the rear main seal and get the flywheel resurfaced while the tranny was out.
Unless your car is making a tremendous amount of HP or you are really brutal on a clutch I wouldn't waste the money on a real expensive racing clutch. For everyday driving you wouldnt even know the differance.

one thing i have heard through the grape vine is that the centerforce clutches have killed trannies because they grip too hard....i have no real information to back this up, but would like to make you aware of it if your thinking of going that way. I'd hate to see you spend the money on one to blow up the tranny. Again, i dont have any info to back this up.......only what i have heard through the grapevine.
summery: ask questions from the dealers about the parts youre buying. don't buy crap, but overkill does just that....kills.

Well my clutch is nice and broke in and my car runs great. Since I got my stereo jacked I just listen to the flow. I totally pulled on a honda today it was the funniest thing I ever see. He rolls by me doing like 50 when I'm doing 40 I drop to 3rd and catch him in half a sec. I can pull 2nd gear scratches at like 4k. i love my shop thats why I say with them. A woman runs the place too. Shes really cool. Her 18 year old son does auto X and stuff.

A little slippage is not a bad thing. I'd rather burn a clutch out pre-maturely than snap a crank..

Mines got a little but it grabs nice still. I finally kinda broke it in you could say. i love it though. I gotta take my car to the track and see what it runs. High 15's would be great if I get that lucky.
Have my install tips printed out?
