Hard to start when engine is cold.

When I wake up and fire up the car in the morning, it starts barely and sounds like it's about to die, then it will go up in the rpms and drive kind of like crap. You guys all know the whole idle problem.( You slow down and rpms drop like it's about to die then when stopped, they fix themselves and go up to normal.) Well, it will do this right when I start my car now and it used to happen after I drive for a while. So whatever the problem is, it's getting worse. I am completely stumped. What should I do? I am almost ready to just bring it in to a mechanic and waste a bunch of money. Please what should I do......

Could be ignition problems . I know I need a new rotor like real bad !(I'll be swapping mine in with the new injectors !) . I checked my cap and rotor , my cap and rotor need changing . My rotor is really shot . My ignition coil was also shot to . Go out at night , turn any outdoor lights off , crank her up and look for arcs in your plugwires ( you will see a glow ) . Check your sparkplugs .But becarefull checking your wires in the dark if you have long hair and make sure no clothing gets stuck in any moving parts .I know you might be going DOH But sometimes we all need to be reminded .I almost forgot about my altenator a few weeks ago looking at my coil .Almost chopped off my finger ! I bought my accel cap and rotor from Summit ..part number 8183 I belive .

Does it run even crappier when its cold or colder outside ? how about when it rains , or if its humid ? If so , its most like ignition problems .

I think Wayne's on the right track; you might also want to check timing. A bad coolant temp sensor won't tell the correct "cold" temperature to the computer. You don't have a cold start injector on that '92, so we can rule that out. And there's the usual stuff, like exhaust leaks, vacuum leaks, etc...
