Strange Cold Start Issues
Strange Cold Start Issues
I've been having some problems lately with my car. 87, 2.8, MPI, the usual stuff. FWIW, it's winter up here, so there's some cold weather happening, if that really matters. Anyhow, when it's started after sitting for a few hours, it will run, and then immediately will lose power and cut RPM's, almost like it's misfiring. Each time it "coughs", it will flash the SES light. Been too lazy to check for codes, but I doubt there will be any. Additionally, when cruising at highway speeds, if the cruise control disengages the throttle to coast down, i.e. when going downhill, the aforementioned symptoms will again show up, and will go away once the engine is under load again. TIA for any help

Think it's RPM related? I'd check over the igntion system (timing). Do a visual inspection of the MAF to make sure the orange frequency film isn't warped or kinked or otherwise distorted.
