Yeah , I stripped it . Its going to cost me $400 bucks to get new fuel lines put in and some other $hit . I don't care at this point . I just wont the car back ! I know I could have done this project if I had the time , but I didnt , I ended up working on my spring break when I thought I was going to have off .I've been using my parent's cars and they need them .So I've been in a rush to try to finish.( ya know sometimes when ya rush stuff ya ***** it up ) I can't wait to get it back and drive it b/c my car seemed no different than my cusions 95 3.4 which just had a tune-up , and thats with my car having injectors in it that are shot to hell .Should not be any faster than her 3.4 , but his should be intersting to .
Which part is stripped? The fuel line fittings are steel, the fuel block on the fuel rail is alumnum. Steel is harder then aluminum therefore if somethign is stripped its likely the block. It takes about 5 minutes to remove the fuel block, since its jsut 3 torx screws. Just get one from the junkyard, most 2.8's, and 3.1's use the same fuel rail and subsequently will use the same block.
That said I'd be willing to bet that nothing is stripped, the parts just aren't lining up right. Take a break, set it aside for a day, organize your tools, work in the garden, download **** and beat off all day... Just do whatever you enjoy doing that relaxes you for 24 hours. Once you've let it go and you've had a chance to regroup, convince yourself that you're going to make it work, take the right tools and try it again.
If it doesn't go together, bug a mechanically inclined friend to take a crack at it. Its like everything else, if a mechanic can do it, you can do it. The only thing to possibly change that is tools and experiance. You have the tools, and you get experiance from doing the work yourself.

It was just bad timing to try to fix it on my spring break . I forgot I had a trip planed to New Orleans with my cusion . Get some good bug repellent, some citronella candles, some squito coils, and get at it...
If you pay someplace $400 to fix your car, I'll ban you on principle.
Its an easy fix, and shouldn't cost you more than$10 to fix it yourself.

Yeah Wayne, hop out to a junkyard, and go grab yourself a fuel rail. Maybe you'll get some free injectors out of it, too!
But This time, don't disconnect any lines! Remove the fuel rail from the junkyard car by doing what I said; undo the metal clips holding the steel lines to the engine. The only fuel connections I want you to "break" are:
1. Where the fuel hoses (by a/c compressor) meet the steel lines
2. The cold start injector tube
Also, pick up the Standard SK-9 kit; that's the kit with 12 fuel injector o-rings in it. Use them to replace the ones on your injectors in case you tear any when removing the fuel rail from the car (or the injectors from the fuel rail). I think it's a $8 box?

Well today I got it back from the shop . Yeah , Yeah , Drew I put it in the shop ! lol The new injectors are awesome . My car idles much smoother , there is no stinch from the exhaust ! Only problem is my car does not feel like it has a shiftkit in it anymore .Was the tb cable not adjusted back properly ? I went for a ride with the mechanic , it shifted like it had a shiftkit but it was driving it real hard .And I thought it was fixed .Whats the cause of this ? Im going to take the car back .But I want to sound like I know what Im talking about when I say its not shifting like a shiftkit and he wonders why ? He was very impressed with the 2.8 ! I said , " this thing will get up for a V6 huh ? he said " Yeah it has alot of pick-up for V6 ...ESPECIALLY a 2.8 ....Then he said " I raced irocs and mustangs in the 80s .

I CAN'T BELIVE how my car has NO GAS SMELL AT ALL ..Before it was SO STRONG ! Id honestly get kinda nervous when someone would throw a cigarette out there window in front of me .
does not die and hesitate after I start it up . It have EVEN MORE get up and go and the motor idles and runs quieter !!! Also , I was SO CONVIENCED that my bad gas/exhaust smell was my converter being gutted , man was I wrong ! Last edited by WaynesRS; Apr 10, 2002 at 03:42 PM.

Good note: I saw Sheryl Crow last night in concert, thru 95.5's giveaway. (My girlfriend told me I'd never get thru to win, and I did! She was so shocked, hehe) I wound up missing class, work, and "work on this C++ project" time, but it was -so- worth it.

i did the lab on a 98 1500 series chevy pickup
one of the last vehicles left with a distributor!
although this distributor goes into the engine on a fixed position so timing can not be messed around with
