Went driving today. Ended up dead on shoulder.

Well all was going as planned. Seems to have more power, but not alot(exhaust and injectors I hope). Anyway, was going up a long hill, doing about 60mph in 3rd as usual, then it started to feel funny, didn't really hear anything though. Then it started to slow down, so I pressed the gas just a little more and it was still slowing. Didn't die just kept slowing and running rougher. If I gave it gas it just ran bad, let up it smoothed out. At about 30 it died, so I put it in neutral and started pulling over. Couple hundred feet to a turn-off (same place I pulled into when the muffler fell off, oh the irony), but didn't make it. The SES light didn't come on till after it died.
After yelling one or two words I turned the key off and back on and tried starting it. Fired right up, revved it up couple times and took off. Didn't have any problems for a while after that. Thought maybe it started doing it again later, but then I crested the hill and started going down, so wasn't positive about it.
Will the timing gun work right with the msd hooked up? I timed it before hooking it up. I also read about turning the dist all the way to the firewall, but mines already turned that way a few degrees since I put the dist gear on 180* backwards. I don't think that would be messing me up though.
I need to try doing that diagnostic test by jumping the 2 pins, but it cooled down again outside and at the moment I'm burnt out on working on it. (shocked by the dist while adjusting it once too many times) Maybe tomorrow I'll try it.
So if anyone can make any sense of all that let me know.

dude listen to me on this one
take out the platinum plugs
they don't work very well with msd or boost
it can cause detonation
same basic thing that happens when you have a turbo boost to high and the engine blows
i have been told by many to just use normal plugs
none with precious metals
i'm not saying the plugs are te reason for the whole hill thing
but i know this is true
it is recomended by many
take care
just watching out for you
i'm gonna go boost and MSD
so i've been shopping for the right plug
because it makes a big difference.
later

It sounds like the fuel filter needs replacement

I can try throwing the old plugs back in. They're not in too bad of shape. The fuel filter's new.

(I'm doing HW, from home, damn, I hate using a computer on the weekends...)

You just rebuild the distributor, right? Did you use the heat-sink grease on the Accel module? The timing light will work with the MSD... as far as the rest of the car is concerned, the MSD box is "just" a big spark coil. Oh- you mean the multiple spark feature? They come so fast that the gun will just see it as one spark.

I guess I should have added that the dist is rebuilt. respaced the reluctor fingers, and all that. Used heat sink too.
