I HAVE NEVER HAD EITHER, BUT IF YOU STAY WITH GOODYEAR, CONSIDER THEIR OTHER BRANDS. ONE IS THE VIPER SOLD THRU OTHER TIRE SHOPS, AND ALSO SEARS. MY 90 IROC W/350 HAD KELLY CHARGERS, AND THEY SKATED ALL OVER (ESPECIALLY WHEN COOL AND ON BLACKTOP). THE VIPERS CURED THAT. ALSO THEY DO GREAT IN THE RAIN, AND ALTHOUGH NOT ADVERTISED AS A RUN FLAT, THEY DO WELL THERE ALSO. I HAD A NAIL IN ONE AND WHEN I GOT HOME IT LOOKED A LITTLE LOW, LIKE IT NEEDED 4-6 LBS. THE TIRE GAGE CAME UP WITH 6 PSI. LAST FALL I TOOK THE DUNLOPS OFF MY TRANSAM AND PUT VIPERS ON THE REAR. I FOUND A BUY AT SEARS FOR THE 255/50R16, Z RATED, FOR $88 EACH. BUT WE WARNED, THESE BABIES WINE TERRIBLY ON CONCRETE. IF YOU HAVE THE WINDOW DOWN, YOU WILL BE TURNING UP THE RADIO. THEY DO NOT DO BAD ON BLACKTOP THOUGH.

I have had friends with the nittos and they werent happy with them. I reciently purchased kuhmo exta supra 12s (for only $480 mounted and balanced)for my gta a friend of mine has some and raves about them,he says they have great strait line traction, cornering, wet weather traction. look on www.tirerack.com and look at the ratings and personal reviews on tires, that will help you in your decision.

I have a set of Nitto Extreme Performance Assymetric Directional tread 245/50/16 on my 92 RS. I am not impressed at all with them in the dry weather. I have to decrease my cornering speed by about 10 MPH compared to GoodYear Eagle GA's. The Nitto's just break free and a four wheel slide is not fun on public roads. But in the wet, they are pretty good.

Nittos are pretty good, I have nitto's in in front and pirelli's for the rear. Nitto's are way older than the pirelli's and they still have most of their tread on them.

Also look into the Yokohamas, they were recently rated right up with BF Goodrich comp t/a's in all around performance and their Z rated tires can be as cheap as 85 bucks for Z rated 245 50 R16's

When I had called tire rack and asked for their reccomendation, they suggested the Kumho 712's to me. I told them I wanted a good performance tire, but not something with a real rough ride. When he told me about the Kumho, I told him I was not just looking for the cheapest rubber I could find and I was willing to spend $$ for good tires. The rep told me this tire was the closest to what I was looking for at any price.

I just sent my wheels out to be refinished and will put these tires on when the rims come back. We'll see if they are as good as they say.
