tire size

I have a 88 IROC-z with 15 inch rims in the back. I was thinking of putting drag radials for the back. But I not sure its going to fit the tires are BFG's the size they have is P275/50R15 or P275/60R15 I was wondering if any of these tires would fit. This is with the stock application. One more question do you know if you can fit 4th generation tires on a third gen car. Thanks

No 4th gen came with a 15" wheel so the answer is no. The actual tires size (overall height and width) is similar except for the fact that the inner part is tailored to a larger wheel. However, with spacers you can run 4th gens wheels.

you can run 275/60's on stocker wheels, look in my sig, that what i have on my back wheels. i, however, would recommend going to an 8" wide rear wheel to run these things as the side wall has a lot of slop in them and they will not handle well at all. the 275/50's are 2" in diameter shorter than the 275/60's and i don't imagine the sidewall being able to go to the 7" rim very easily.

Thanks mw66nova, so you use the same tire size and BFG drag radials? I thought that the width of a 15" was 8.5" not sure. Thanks. 255/60 works on my camaro right know and it clears it shouldn't be a problem.

275-60-15 are too tall and too wide for a thirdgen (you can run a wider wheel, but not a tall tire like that).

They do have a 235-60-15, which may not be as wide, but would work a lot better.

the 275/60's are working great on my car...i need the height of the tire to help with ground clearance from the dual exhaust, and the roll-out of the taller tire is better with the 4.10 rearend i have under the car for drag racing....which i do quite a bit of.

I thought you could use a 4thgen wheel but the offset was wrong?

I remember reading somewhere that you were good to go with a set of spacers.

I KNOW I've seen them on many cars here. Along with C-5 wheels too.
