Will These Wheels/Tires Fit
I am looking at some torque thrust 2's, two front 15x8s with bfgoodrich radial TA's 235s. and 2 15x10s with 295 radial TA's. Will these fit without any adapters/spacers? On my 85 Trans Am, and also will they look good?

Frankly because I have a very small budget for student/part time minimum wage worker....id love bigger wheels but I cant be picky, plus I have numerous other little things that have to be done that will add up.

Re: Will These Wheels/Tires Fit
The thing is the tires in my sig are shot, the car was sitting for a while before i bought it and are dryrotted, so its sell those and get all new, or keep and get new tires. But im getting a hell of deal thats why i think im going to get them.
Back on topic....will i need spacers?

Re: Will These Wheels/Tires Fit
4"-4.5" backspacing on the front and 5.5" backspacing on the rear with the right offset then no spacers needed.. if the backspacing is any larger, then you will most likely need spacers..

Re: Will These Wheels/Tires Fit
no yours will stick out a lot!...i have a backspacing around 5.6" so with only 3.75...they are def going to pertrude past the wells...i would highly suggest some wheels that have a greater offset so you can tuck them

Re: Will These Wheels/Tires Fit
well they wont look diff than what the guy has above...however, that picture of his is somewhat hard to tell but i gaurantee you that those tires pertrude past the wells atleast 1-2"...thats fine if thats what your going for but thats just not my style.
you asked originally will it look good? And im gonna definately say no to that bc to me that style is kinda trashy looking and hill billy-ish but to each his own and do as you wish to your car.
also...your going to have 6.25" of frontspacing as opposed to 3.37" stock so you are technically pushing your rims out 3"...can you not find tt2s with a diff offset?

Re: Will These Wheels/Tires Fit
Honestly I have no clue what the offset numbers mean, ive been looking for a set of wheels/tires for a while and have a very small budget because im a full time student and only work ~20 hours a week @ 8/hr doesnt get me much after insurance and gas. The owner said they bolted right up to his 82 camaro so im thinking they will on mine.

Re: Will These Wheels/Tires Fit
yeah man i was right there with you but only making 6.50 an hr. Your T/A looks pretty nice and i dont think you want it looking trashy bc of some wheels you had to buy. Its definately hard to find anything super cheap in terms of nice wheels but i can tell you it would def be worth it to find some better fitting wheels.
the offset is bascially where the center section of the wheel is set in relation to the barrel of the rim
Go here...http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoWheelOffsets.dos and it explains very well about wheel dimensions and offset

Arent they sort of deep dish? And when I buy them, if I dont like them I think I should be able to get atleast what i paid for them. I dont mind if they stick out an inch or too but not a ton...

i'm pretty sure that other guy had 15x8's with 3.75 backspacing.. not 15x10's.. you need at least 5.5" backspacing with 15x10's.. any less, you will stick out

Re: Will These Wheels/Tires Fit
well yeah...you are talking about the same wheel setup and it is going to stick out quite a bit....the fronts should be fine i would think...i would need to know the offsets to be more accurate but the rears are going to come out atleast 2.5-3" and its gonna give it that "look"
its up to you man but id save your money and do it right...my car doesnt stick out bc i measured them and bought them to be tucked...yours might look something like this...pic coming in a sec
a bit overexaggerated but you get the overall idea

Re: Will These Wheels/Tires Fit
you are doing the right thing...tt2s look pretty nice on trans ams and thats cool but get a good offset thats right for our cars. If i was you, i would try to get some weld prostars and the same bfg tires (black out) and then you would have decently cheap wheels, extremely lightweight wheels, and you can get them in a nice + offset to help tuck them
check out summitracing and other dealers and i bet you can get a full set of prostars for under $400 bucks and tires off ebay for under $200

Re: Will These Wheels/Tires Fit
sorry its been a while...i have finals right now but ill answer you real quick.
no 255s are fine for front and rear
the only wheels that were on that site that would fit right and look good would be the
0289-5706 15x7 Polished 5 on 4.5/4.75 ACORN 0 mm 4 3121-09 1580 lbs. 20 lbs
if you notice all the other wheels have Negative offsets meaning the wheel gets pushed out. Exactly the same way the other ones would have...the 15x10 isnt going to happen but what i think you are missing is you dont have to have a 10" wide wheels to fit a 295 60 15s or whatever it is you are wanting to run on the back
its hard to explain but basically tires with bigger sidewalls and are wide can work on smaller width rims.
my advice...if you really want those wheels go with the 0 offset 15x7s all the way around do 235 60 15s up front and 295 50 15s out back
they will fit the rims, overall tire/wheel diameter will be almost identical, you should clear up front and youll have fatter, drag looking tires out back but they will be tucked in
you need to be careful and make sure they will bolt up...our cars have trouble clearing tie rod ends...but i think a 7" wide wheel with 0 offset should well clear it.
good luck

post some pics when you get them mounted and let me know if you run into any snags
btw i check ebay and found two 295 50 15s for under 100 bucks ending soon..

Re: Will These Wheels/Tires Fit
definately look at BFGs for your tires if you are looking to go with 295 50 15s still then id match them with 235 60 15s up front or 245 60 15s
the 235s are gonna be easier to find and more available but the 245s would be an extremely close overall size to the 295 50 15s but harder to find (there are some on ebay)
check this out to compare sizes http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos

youll just have to skim around on ebay...the 295s shouldnt stick out and yes they will bring a bigger price as opposed to smaller widths

yeah the bfgs are pretty nice tires, not the best but def a good tire. The 275s will be a good match and will look nice as well as be pleasing to you as far as width, availability, and price. I got a set of tires off ebay that would have run me around 1 grand for like $350 so good luck

That looks good but i dont like how the fronts stick out that much, but its the owners opinion that matters!
Yeah so its going to be 235/275 any ideas on where will have the best price? And 60 is ok for both the front and back?
Thanks for the help

bfgs have a white letter side and a plain black side as do all tires that have a white letter side. BFG is pretty much the only respectable tire that comes in a 235 60 15 and 275 60 15...also 60 is not okay for both front and back...did you use the link i sent you above?

So couldnt i just flip them and have the backside out? Would that look bad? I would need 235/50/15 in the back right? Im just going to go with the 235 all around so i can rotate them and its alot more econimical.
Just checked the tracking number there supposed to come tommorow! Im PUMPED
