hey what kind of center console do you have in your car? is that an up grade? where did you get it?

 

18" owners here is my question...

does yor front tires touches anywhere when you do a full lock?

 

I don't have any problems with it on full lock...no rubbing issues at all anywhere!

 

what is the width of your rims?? I am planning on going with 9 or 9.5" front, 10 rear...

 

Mine are 8's on the front & 10's on the rear, if you go bigger than 8's for the front then you will have the rubbing issues on full lock...for the back you will have to shave the rear bump stops off & you will have to massage the inner wells where the rear seat belt is & that all depends on how much work you have to do on there from the back spacing...I have the factory offset on the front & 6 1/4" negative offset on the rear which still keeps it tucked under the fender, for tires I have the 245/35/18 (245/40/18 will also do nicely) for the front & 285/35/18 on the back.

 

Ummmm....That's a bit misleading.

I have 9" wide up front, 5" backspacing/0 offset, w/275s & no rubbing issues.

I'm running the same wheels in the back (9" wide, 5" backspacing/0 offset) & 285s....Without ever touching the bumpstop or inner panel.

And could go a bit wider front & rear, if I played with the wheel offset & backspacing. Rubbing will be determined more by the tire height & wheel offset than anything.

 

I also have 275/35-18 up front with no issues, and i will be running 295/35-18 rear, rims are 9" all around.

 

Perhaps I may be wrong but I am using my car to describe what I have done...also I have dropped spindles and a lowering kit in there which makes it a little tighter.

 

Well i think your car is beautiful, and she sits nice, i have sportlines in mine but i don't have any problems yet key word lol, but i don't have a motor in it yet either, by the way you have a 383 right? what do your car run like? cause i'm getting a zz383 for mine,its weird but our cars look sooo much alike.

 

There is a very slight rub now and then but not every time...

Mine are 9" wide up front with a zero offset. My rear are 10" wide wit a 50mm offset, on 1 1/4" adapter to get the spacing and tuck I wanted...

You really dont need anything wider than a 9" up front and a 265 tire.

 

The rim size isn't gonna make a hills bit of difference, in reference to tire rub. Only where/if the rim rubs the tie rod/spindle.

 

I think that 19 is the max .I have 18s 10.5" in the back and 17s 9.5" in the front.

 

Thats funny.. Cause I have experienced understeer with my 17X9.5" wheeled 275/40 Goodyear F1s.. But then again I could probably be found legally insane by the way I drive.

( And yes I know there are other factors that can play into that happening to me.. just pointing out that one size does not fit all)

 

I never said one size fits all... A 265 is plenty enough, or 255, or 245... Our cars were not made for tires that much wider, and can cause premature front end wear as we ALL know already. The wider the front tires are also takes away from your acceleration because it causes more resistance, thats why people run skinnies at the track. The new Corvettes only have a 245 up front and accomplish very good handling, but just going to a wider tire to compensate for bad suspension is useless.
