I just got some 17x8 TT2's and was wondering what size tires you guys with similer sizes are running? I did a SEARCH 3 actually and could find most of you running 245/45/17. But I saw "the sickness" was running 275/40/17 on his but now he has 18's and 20's. Most people thought that was dangerous. I was on some tire websites and they said 255/45/17 were too big for 8" rims. I would like to go as big as possible. Also what brands are you guys running?

 

i have 17x8's on my truck and they have 245/45-17 on them and the sidewalls are perfectly straight up and down.. no bulge or that gross inwards taper.. i have heard of people running 275/40-17 tires.. not sure how safe it is but whatever.. you also dont get the full 275 tread width since it will bulge and pull the edges of the tire off the pavement..

i say go with the 255 or just get bigger rims


EDIT: dont buy kumho tires to save money.. its not worth it.. i have em and they suck.. they dont give you a chirp when you shift, they just kinda spin cause they are rock hard.. spend the extra dime and get something quality like a bfg kdw or something..

 

i also have 245/45/17 on my front wheels that are 8 inch wide, but i have a 275/40/17 on 9 inch wide wheels in the rear, i wouldnt put them on an 8 inch wheel though. i would stick with the 245/45/17. 275/40/17 on the rear fits fine but might have rubbing issues up front depending on the wheel offset.

275/40/17 does bulge out on a 17 x 8 wheel,I have 275/40/17 on (2) 8 inch wheels,just as a test. I dont like the way it looks,so I bought (2)17 x 9.5) and put the 275/40/17 on them,looks alot better.245,s fit great on a 8 inch wheel.
On the TT2,s the back space to fit a fbody,you can use 4 3/4 or the 4 inch.The 4 3/4 sits the wheels under the car,no rubbing,the 4 inch sits the wheel out to the edge of quarter,some like it,I prefer the TUCKED LOOK.
4 1/2 backspace will also work fine.
Im running FALKEN ZE 512 tires,275/40/17 rear and 245/45/17 front.

 

runnin 245/45/17 nitto 555's Z rated to 180+mph. they fit the rim great but im def goin 17x9.5 front/rear bc 17x8 just isnt wide enough for my driving habits

I'm running 17X8 chrome Bullet wheels, black centers, Corvette flag centercaps, and 255/45 KDW's all around on my '91 GTA
