TT2's have question

alright so i have a chance to buy some tt2's for a good deal. the rears are 17x11.5 with 315/35/17 rear tires. you think this would be to much for our cars. i just dont want it to hit the fender lip and crush it or anything. they dont seem to stick out very much at all on his 4th gen. flush with the lip if that. fronts are 255/45?/17

thanks

Re: TT2's have question

I am no expert on 17”, but that seems like it would be too much for your third gen.
But, I could be wrong. I am sure there has to be someone on here that has maxed out the capacity for wheel width on a 3rd gen in 17”.

While I would expect the back to stick out beyond the wheel well, I would even more so expect the fronts to be too wide to turn without rubbing.
But like I said, I could be wrong.

Re: TT2's have question

yea im not sure. i would also maybe get some say 275 or smaller for the rear but like i say i can get a good deal on these. the guy told me they only rub when he takes really hard corners on his 4th gen. ill go today to the tire shop and see what they have to say i guess.

Re: TT2's have question

I'm running 17x10's and that is about maxxed out unless you want to do some massaging on the fenders. Also, unless you are running a 4th gen rear, you will have to run spacers. More $$$.

too much for a straight bolt on, yes. too much for our cars, probably.

I personally have 17x10's with 275/40R17's with the proper backspacing for a thirdgen. The rims are wide and the 275's are just as wide as the rim, barely. I think I could run 295's or a touch more, but clearancing, banging, denting, etc would be required for me to run 315's for rear tires. It can be done, and has been done on thirdgens before, but its not a simple bolt on. I do not think there is enough room for me to run a 11.5" rim, its just too wide.

Now multiply the fact that you'll have to run 2" spacers to fit the 4th gen rims and you'll be pushing the rims out even further which I think will just complicate matters. Test fit them and let us know if they fit or if they hit. I'm almost positive you'll need spacers.

One thing is for sure, you'll have a huge contact patch and alot of traction!

Re: TT2's have question

My buddy had that setup on his old 87 Iroc. They fit, but he did a bunch of modifications to the wheel lip.

Re: TT2's have question

I think there are a few people on here running 315's in the rear.

I've got 17 X 9's all the way around (0 offset) with 285's on the rear and 275's on the front with no problems. The 275's on the front rub a little at full lock, but I haven't had any other issues at all.
