Re: 18"/19" C6 OEM Competition Gray wheels are on

I got mine thru summit for about 80-90 bucks but i dont see it on the site anymore. I dont have stainless which goes for 90 so it may have been cheaper.

I had dynatech splitflo and it was very loud but had an awesome tone to it at WOT. Had to take it off to tone the car down, it was way to race sounding. It was about 109 bucks, a cheaper version of the borla XR-1

Re: 18"/19" C6 OEM Competition Gray wheels are on

Dang nice job. I was about to order a set of these about 6months ago but i havent finished my 4th gen rear. I see the gray looks better than the polished i was looking at. Sweet ride. Any luck on the Front brakes yet?
Is there any mod we can do to push the front spindle out 2inchs or is there a kit> id like to do it instead of the 2Inch spacers..

I have the C5 brake kit but got to get around to installing it. I just need rotors and pads i think. I'm tied up right now with the twin turbo build so the brakes will wait for awhile till all the motor stuff is done

I really like the way those wheels look on your car, and I'm not too much of a fan of C6 wheels.

looks perfect the way it is. dont lower it. it looks low already. everybody wants a car in the weeds but they don't have to drive it.......function and performance over looks i think. looks really good the way you have it maybe the tire change will look different i think the fatter the rear tire the better.

Re: 18"/19" C6 OEM Competition Gray wheels are on

no intentions of lowering it, but it appears with my hood off the car, the front end has risen alittle bit. Even with both turbos/intercooler and piping on the car it seems to sit abit higher in the front now. NO big deal, i just like the car tucked down low.

Last year with the y pipe/longtube setup, i scraped on everything, the y pipe was crushed from hitting so hard on some objects. This year i hope to have decent clearance.

Was thinking of going to 19's all round or maybe 18's all around. I'd have to buy a silver wheel and have them coated to match this gray tho... not easily done i can imagine

Re: 18"/19" C6 OEM Competition Gray wheels are on

Thats a great set of wheels for a Third Gen!! I like chrome, BUT when painting a set of wheels such as these, it just gives the car a very clean, sporty agressive look. I myself am thinking about getting a set of C6 ZO6 Deep Dish Wheels like the ones in the pic below. If i do i will have the insides done in either dark grey or black, and leave the deep dish chrome. Cant decide between gloss or flat tho..lol. Great Looking car man!!

I likethem, i think a semi gloss would look good. Not flat, i think would only look good on a primered car lol.

I thought about getting a set of those deep dish c6 z06 wheels a couple weeks ago, but I didn't really like the fact that they have stainless steel lips.

im usually not a fan of anything bigger than 17" but those rims look awesome on the car. You have to have a beautiful car to start with, you cant pull those off on a sport coupe. your stance is great. exhaust is great. Love the car! Good job!

Hey dont bash the Sport coupe lol. Ill finish my swap then ill decide on the wheels. It is hard to get a wheel with decent lip to look good on a coupe. I have the 91 RS wheels on it now and it dont look bad cause they are pretty wide.. Do you have pics of that camaro with the black z06 wheels on it from a bit further away.

No we just put that wheel on to check for spacer size and clearance. I only got one pic. Someday maybe i could get him to bring those wheels over and i can fit all of them on but i doubt it

they do look good tho

Haha. Im not bashing the coupes, its just that factory coupes dont have the GFX to make large wheels look "right". Even models with GFX have to be careful with wheel/tire selection because the stance and ride of the car depends on the suspension set-up too. The late-model rims are a great selection for a coupe, they are actually a can't-go-wrong selection for any thirdgen camaro. I think coupes look good with 15" rims and slicks/drag radials. They have always seemed like a perfect sleeper car.

That is true. Im actually talking to a guy at the moment about getting a set of 18x10 torque thrusts. Only 2 at the moment but they are dirt cheap and brand new.SO maybe i wont need the vette wheels. But the offset of these wheels wont look good with a 4th gen REAR ...going to stick out the 2 inches again....

Re: 18"/19" C6 OEM Competition Gray wheels are on

I think what our cars need is an evolutionary design wheel. What I mean by that is the following:

Our cars (Camaros in my case) came with a 5 spoke, dished 15/16 inch wheel.

I have looked at the C6/Z06 wheel, the other Corvette wheels and concluded that they look best as at least an 18 inch wheel with a low profile tire. However, that looks too spindly on a Camaro- our cars have hair on their chests, after all. I think they make our cars look a bit like 'The Rock' in drag.

I like the C6/Z06 wheel with its split spoke design, but for our cars(or mine, again) I think we need a) a thicker spoke b) a DEEPER dish and c) a 17/18 inch diameter with a fatter tire.

What do you guys and girls think- and have you found my 'Holy Grail' wheel?

Does anyone make this wheel in a 17/18 inch that is a deep dish design, close to the stock offset?

IDK about the holy grail wheel but 17" AR and Cragars always look good. They have a dish and thick spokes.

DAMN NICE CAR!! like all the hard work n money!!!!lets see i want to find a set to throw on my grey 91 rs gettting tired of the 91 wheels.thinking of just getting a set of irocs for now.n also set of? been looking at those split c7 wheels like the one your friend has they have one like that but its a gunmetal finish with a machined face looks good.my sit. would be worse since i have drums(ick) on back still.i guess its the same width as the discs from stock n would use the same spacers?2 inch? right not sure but looking at best deal on upgrading the rear? newer take out assy with the posi n disc set up.or just converting the rear to disc n fronts with u.s. brake or ssbs force 10 system.also like zo6 stock or o.e. wheels ones with deep dish are nice.want to stay with 18s so not sure if they do that at oe wheels.also camaro ss wheels 5 spoke are nice. but for now i think iam goong to go with c7 split wheels in gunmetal finish just to get bye.lol but the ultimate rims i like are the boze force rims or billet specalities slg 23 pro touring rim looks hot.newstalgia wheels have those n a car simulator which is cool. pick car color set ride ht stagger cool site to see some rims also.kind of leaning on the slg 23 rims . about 600 a pc but hey the shoes make the ride!!

Re: 18"/19" C6 OEM Competition Gray wheels are on

also wanted to say i really like the oroc wheels in the 18 inch size but need to do then in a gunmetal finish with a machined face would be sweet !!! could buy a set at summit which has the best prices i think?theirs 2 companies there with irocs but american racing is way cheaper not sure why?diff quality?looks the same to me? would love to have a set but might be exp to have them painted n machined?need to contact american racing or o. e. wheel every body start writing them might offer a set?i know my brother was looking up a brake pkg n he found 2 dif companies with the same kit basically calling it a diff name. but he saw they both shipped out of the same warehouse so have to be careful sometimes.one was 200 the other 400.

Did you need longer wheel studs on the rear? I'm about to put on the same wheels with a 4th gen rear.
