Looking to buy these 78/79 rims
People have been telling me that I need to get new rims for my 92 bird to go with my RAII hood, lol, I am looking at buying these... (I have included some pics of the car with the stockers.)

Re: Looking to buy these 78/79 rims
Hmm, I don't really think so... As you can see by the paint, it's not the most 'picturesque' type of car... More of a reservation rocket.
I have a video on youtube, search sonix69 I think.
Aren't you in Red deer? Next time you're down in cowgary drop by and i'll show you it.
Be aware! These wheels don't take normal tapered lug nuts! You need to find the lug nuts that have a shank and washer! I paid $80 for a set of these from a custom wheel place in calgary, they are rare like hens teeth.
I still have a bad driveline vibration, which may/may not be from the wheels....

My buddy use to have an '86 T/A and had those on his car. He masked them up and painted the inserts black and the outer lip polished as well as the spokes. Looked damn good. Being 15" rims, you can run 275's on the back like my buddy did.

Re: Looking to buy these 78/79 rims
buy lugnuts like I did.
M12x1.5 IIRC. The correct thread patten for a third gen, but with the collar and washer style.
the place I went to was on edmonton trail, and 32nd ave IIRC. Custom wheel or something like that. Right across 32nd from the home depot, little hole in the wall shop.
Told them what I was doing, and they found the lug nuts. $4 each I think.

oh heck now. They are a very special item.
Meant for custom wheels on a 3rd gen. Not a standard item.

What was the name of that shop, maybe I could get them to ship them to me?
BTW, I have indeed bought the rims, all in all in decent shape, I will post pics later.

I don't see why they couldn't ship it to you. If you aren't in a rush I could get you the name of the person I got it from, and probably a receipt (ie a part number) when I get back to calgary... (saturday...)
Or just give them a call and feel 'em out on it.

Re: Looking to buy these 78/79 rims
I'm glad that some other folks have been considering this as well...
Not that I don't like the crosslaced wheels, but they are a PITA to keep clean and I'd like to upgrade to a larger wheel. Since no one makes larger styles yet I'm having to look elsewhere for wheels. I've found some good deals on eBay for replica Vette wheels that I could easily mount to my car using wheel adapters. I like the designs and the spoked look of the ZR1s and Zo6 wheels. Plus you'd be able to see my calipers...especially once they're red which I think is sexy.
Anyway, so I'm flipping through my HPP the other day and stumble across and add for Year One. On it is their new billet replica wheels as well as their "new" Bandit style ones. The new style looks alright, but a little exaggerated. What I was surprised to see is a set of original design 17x9 snowflakes. I got to thinking that maybe those might be the answer. They have an OEM look and are bigger in addition to being able to better see the planned red calipers.
So, I called Year One and talked with them. They said all I needed was the bolt pattern and the backspacing and they'd bolt right up. Since no one that I know of has done this yet there are no cars for me to see what it would look like. Enter Photoshop. It's not my best work, but it gives me an idea of what they could look like on my car. I'm looking for your opinions on how it looks before I spend money and buy them.
They say that rim choice is generally the hardest part of any buildup and I'm beginning to think they're right...
How do you think they'll look on my GTA?

I like em. I like the old school rims, 16's or 17's look good and 15's aren't even bad, u can't go wrong with old school.
