265 45 16 too wide to run up front?

I bet they would rub up front, but only at full turns, which you wouldn't be doing at high speeds anyway.

Btw, they are currently on sale at tirerack for like $170 as opposed to $190. I'm looking to get a set for my car as well, just because I like fatter tires. i have the worlds skinniest 245s on my car right now. Swear to god, they look like 215s. LOL!

The real questions are.....

Where will the 265 sidewall on a 16" end up, in the relation to the ball joint?

And what is the backspacing of your wheels? I have 275/40/17s with ZERO rub, but under 1/4" clearance between the tire sidewall & the ball joint. Safe, but I couldn't go any wider...With my 5" backspacing.

are you talking about the outer tie rods? my 265/40 18 clear them by 1/3" but i rub at full lock.

Yeah. Pics make it look bigger than it really is. I could slide my 3/8" open ended wrench in between them, but not the 1/2" open ended wrench. That tells you just how close they are. The shadow hides the outermost end of the tie rod & how close it is to the wheel.

Heres my 275/40/17s......

Hey there, did you ever find out about this? I am getting ready to purchase tires for my car and since the reviews in Grassroots Motorsports tend to point towards these tires as the best of the street tire lot, I want a set for Auto-X usage.

Thanks
Aaron

Re: 265 45 16 too wide to run up front?

For auto-X use, I would use a "Race-compound" tire. I used to use pirelli P-7's on the track and it was a mistake. Street tires tend to scrub and chunk when only used for auto-x. Thats just my experience, though.
Good luck!

I run 265/45/16 kumho v710's on my car and it doesn't rub at all.

I like the tread design of the kumho's. They are reasonably priced too... They are my other choice for my 245/50/16 fronts.

Re: 265 45 16 too wide to run up front?

I just got my new 2010 camaro yesterday, it comes with 275/40R20 dia =28.66 rear, and the front 245/45R20 dia =28.71 the rims are painted silver. But when i ordered the car i got theh upgrade to 21" wheels. Im going to try the 20" on the camaro instead of my 275/40R17 and 245/45R17 the dia of each is 25.6 3 inches taller just wondering if they will fit

Who gives a **** and what does this have to do with this thread. Go troll on some other site.

The 265/45/16's should fit without a problem. I'm assuming that you are using the stock wheels with stock backspacing though.
