Need help deciding between zr1's
I can't decide if I want to get silver zr1's or black. Sorry I borrowed a pic of your car Thomas Aquinas since it was so close to mine. All opinions would greatly be appreciated

Dude are you serious? 17x11 common its obvious, lol. I would go with those on the rear and 17x9.5 in the fronts just my 2cents.

17x11's will give your car such a mean look and will probably hook/handle better.

With the current Iroc stripe pattern on the car, silver looks best. If it was all blue with no Irocz decals, I'd go black in a heart beat.

Tires for the 17x11 are also more expensive. 17x11 WILL hook better if you need better traction. Our cars I was told can fit a 315 wide tire I'm not sure if that's correct. What size tire are you planning on for the 17x11 wheel?

Re: Need help deciding between zr1's
I'll offer the dissenting opinion here. Saying his car needs silver rims is like saying mine needs gold rims. There is more black on these cars than the accent color. the sripe is black and the hood louvers are black. I vote black.

Re: Need help deciding between zr1's
those magnesium vette rims are pretty sweet, and another thing about my car is that my louvers and headlight buckets are gloss black instead of the normal satin so I do think black would look really good, because it would all be the same shade of black. It is a very tough call I really need to slap 1meanz's rims on it, but it's always raining here lol

I vote Silver rims and go 9.5/11. You can always see if you can get the rims offset if your worried about clearance. I'm running 10's on mine with no offset and only had to change the springs. $75 for each spring and now the rear end sticks to the road like glue and my tires dont rub. JMO

Everyone agrees that the 11s look better on the rear. The problem with clearing the 11" rims is the wheel lips (if the car is lowered) and the bumpstops (axle at full droop). The OP's car is a virgin car with a fresh paint job. I don't think he wants to hammer fenders, roll lips, or chop and relocate bumpstops. With a 9.5 rim in the back he will likely be able to avoid all of that while still having a nice square stance to the car.

Tough choice, I like silver, but black as others said gives it a more sinister look. Your choice!

You changed the rear springs to get rims to fit? Care to explain that a little more?

Re: Need help deciding between zr1's
I may have read what he meant totally wrong, but I read his post as using 11" tires (wide). I have 15" rims with true 60's on the rear. Because of the tall sidewall and how wide they are (10" wide tire), they would rub slightly on the lip of my fenders. So I put in a slightly heavier spring in the rear to lift the backend up more and to also stop the rubbing because now there is less rebound. Make sense?

OK here are the results of our test yesterday. These are my front rims on the car. 17x9.5 56mm offset. 2" spacers front 1.5" spacers rear. "before and after" pix of the car below. Car was just painted, thats why the hood louvers and rocker emblems are still missing.

Re: Need help deciding between zr1's
you just gotta decide which look you want man. The black wheels have the dark sinister look. That would be complimented by a lower stance and larger brakes. The silver wheels I think would be more of a classic look and would still look OK even if you left the stock brakes and ride height.
