Another "Which Wheels?" for my ride thread...
Been contemplating on Boss 338's with the platinum spokes and polished outers...or may be black spoke, can't decide. Or maybe something else all together. I DON'T plan on lowering the car any, since it barely makes it up the bump at the bottom of the driveway as is.
I'm not interested in road racing the car - maybe a trip down the 1/4 on rare occasions just for fun. This car also presently has pretty serious traction issues with the cheap BF Goodrich tires I bought a few years ago - but then again it only had the 305 HO in it at that time....
I'd be willing to go up to a 18" wheel, but no bigger. I'd kinda like an old school staggered look, and I want the biggest meats I can fit on the back - WITHOUT HITTING ANYTHING or sticking beyond the lip of the quarters, which means of course, I also need to know what diameter, rim width and wheel offset/backset that will accomplish the above. Looking for help -Open for suggestions guys!!! Pic of the car:

ck. out ZQ8 wheels . do a search and you can find nice pics. of them . ebay has them under S-10 parts . i have them on my car and get compliments all the time . if you have rear drums you will need to you will need to run a drum sander a few times around the center hole . good luck .

ZQ8s are nice wheels, but the 16" x 8" size limits going wide. You could get them widened, but not really in widening a 16" wheel, since the widest made tire already fits on the 8" size.
Be careful going with big wheels & stock sized disc brakes. Small discs in a bigger wheel looks a bit goofy.

Knowin what ur budget is would make this a lot easier for us to help you out with ideas.. what's the most u wanna spend per wheel? Here is a photo of mine on ZQ8s. As Stephen said, its not worth it to try to widen these, but still a nice wheel. Do the 305s have a 5 bolt setup although they are a 6 spoke? Or did I look at the wrong wheel?

So far as budget, I'd rather not spend 500 bucks a wheel - so I guess I'm looking for something that looks good and reasonably priced.
You guys bring up good points...I have Explorer 11" drums in the rear, and I had no plans to upgrade my stock front disc brakes. Should I stay with the smaller 15" wheels in that case?
I mis-typed the number on the rims I was looking at - they're Boss 338's...5 lug, 5 spoke wheels.
EDIT: The ZQ8s do look nice on your T/A!! I was thinkin the platinum 338's would match my paint scheme a little better though...but I'm not dead set on any at this point.

Thanks! The 338s are a great wheel for our cars.. staggering a 17x8. And a 17x9.5 or 10 would look great. I say 17s because you don't have to worry about huge gaps with the brakes you currently run. And you can run a taller tire (40 or 45 series and won't make your setup look too small for a car you don't plan on lowering.

There is a hub fitment issue, and they will only bolt up using a spacer and some "hammer clearance" on the spindle dust caps. Eagle is working on a new version which fits those cars better, but it may be a few months before they are ready.
They only come in 18" and not 17", but we can do an 18x8 front and 18x9.5 rear setup. The rears would be about even with the fender, depending on tire size.

I had 18s on my car for 3 years... same staggered setup, back in 2000. Never heard a word from anyone bout upgrading to a big brake setup... but on the other hand, it wasn't as popular as it is now. Its totally on you. How do you feel about the SS ZR1s or the 18 inch chrome Irocs.. I will look at a few others and get back to you.

I'd like to end up with maybe a Pro street kinda setup since I don't plan to lower the car and retain the disc in front with the Explorer 11" drums in the rear. By saying that though, I'd like the fronts to be skinnier, but not too much as to make it a bear on turns.....but I DO appreciate the suggestions, and open for more...
