Wheel spacers don't clear hubs...Need some help

Hey guys,

I need some help figuring this out. I bought some 2" wheel spacers to mount my 4th gen wheels on my 82 trans am. However, the spacers don't clear the hubs. After doing a lot of reading and searching on the forum, I thought 2" spacers would work. Any ideas or solutions to this? Thanks.

Re: Front wheel spacers don't clear front hub...Need some help

Where did you get the spacers from? What's the diameter of the center hole and what's the diameter of the hub?

These are the spacers I bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ht_1364wt_1165
The diameter is about 2 3/4" and the hubs are just slightly bigger than that.

Check the inside of the spacers, are there machine lines(ripples)? I bought a set(4) from ebay and wouldn't fit because of these lines. I took all 4 and spent and hour with a dremel tool and some coarse sanding discs, they fit nice and snug and been running on them for years.

When I say machine lines im talking about the same things you find on wheels when your polishing. Those little ripples things.

As far as I know, GM didnt change the hub size over quite a few of their cars and years so the hole for the hub should be the right size if they made their adapters right. I cant find the sheet at the moment, but IIRC the OD on the hub is about 2.77x, or thereabouts. If they really are 2.75" they're too small.

The hubs tend to get rusty, have you made sure its clean and smooth?

I got a set from the same source and i DID have to use a dremel. No problems though. It's good to know they're snug. I don't mind a little sanding to make a nice tight custom fit. Just put em on tonight. They work well. In the National Guard, i'm a Machinist. The things that I like about THESE spacers are:

-The Lug holes are JUST BARELY large enough to fit a tire tool into. This means that there's more metal there to be Strong
-The spacers appear to have been machined out of a SOLID piece of aluminum. That's about as strong as you're going to buy.

You can tell that their feed rate was consistent with taking large cuts. This is probably a CNC job. That being said, they're well constructed. I don't work for this company, but my impression was pretty good.
