ZR1 ? need pictures with 4th gen rear
I have searched for a long time now and havnt got a definitive answer are there two different length rear end that came on a 4th gen? If there are is one better than the other for use with the zr1 wheels?
Does anyone have pictures of 17x11 zr1 wheels with a 4th gen rear end, Im just trying to figure out how well that combination will tuck under the fenders?
Thanks in advance.

Re: ZR1 ? need pictures with 4th gen rear
Just so you know, the general agreement is 93-97 LT1 (just referenced name for the time span) axle is roughly 4 inches longer, making it 2 inches wider on each side, and the 98-02 LS1 axle (all 98-02 v6-v8 are all the same) is roughly 3 inches longer, a hair more than 1.5" wider on each side. I would assume if you are speaking about the newer ZR1 wheels, and not the 80s/90s zr1 style, i would assume they'd fit like any 4th gen camaro/firebird wheel, and in my situation with some chrome y2ks, they tuck nicely, but mine wanted to rub inner wheel well, and I used 1/8" spacer off of my 92 camaro and banged in the lower corners inside the wheels well by the lower control arm and have had no issues with rubbing since.

Sorry I should be more specific, the newer wheels that are 17x11 with a 50mm offset. So for the best fit should I use the 93-97 axle or should I use the 98-02 axle?

Re: ZR1 ? need pictures with 4th gen rear
Kind of what I am confused about is on a stock 3rd gen rear end people only use a 1 inch spacer to make the 17x11 zr1 work with a 1 inch spacer. So how is using a 4th gen rear end going to work if it is 1.5 to 2 inches wider??

Re: ZR1 ? need pictures with 4th gen rear
I got 18X10 wheels on the back and mine wanna rub, I'm not sure how 11's would fit without some sort of spacer. Not sure if it's the same backspacing among all vettes, but it sounds like a 93-97 axle would be slightly more usable for you, because like i said, my 99 axle is still very close. Wish someone with experience would have spoken up by now...

the 98-02 4th gen rear is not 3" wider. It's more like 3.5" wider, and the lt1 rear is closer to 4". either way with 17x11 wheels you will have to massage your inner fender for clearance.

I know about the inner fenders, I just want to make sure before I commit to using the wheels that they will tuck like some of the others I have seen on the board. I snagged axle out of a 99 Z28, not really 100 percent sure on the exact year because it looks like it has junk yard markings on it.
