91-92 Firehawk Wheels (Ronal R-15)
91-92 Firehawk Wheels (Ronal R-15)
My 91' is getting out of the body shop soon and I need some shiny new wheels to go with my shiny new paint job! I really like the look of the Firehawk wheels but I'm having a very hard time sourcing them. Anyone have any info on these wheels that may be helpful? I'm going to assume at one point some company was selling them after market. They don't need to be original, I wouldn't mind replicas. Another option would be wheels that simply look like them. I like the 5 spoke and "deep dish" design. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not new and not mint, good condition. Silver (gray?) paint.
Search my posts for my ad. I think there should be a picture.

Thanks again for the reply Doug. Part of me wants to jump on these very quickly, but the other part of me tells me that there is no way in hell I am ever going to find the center caps for those wheels

There is a picture around of a Firehawk racecar with no caps. I actually like the look better but it is certainly a choice.
These rims were for my road race car so I did not need caps. If I were to keep these for a street car I would shace the mounting point for the caps flush, polish the lip and paint the wheels. It would look great. All done in your own garage.

For a plain wheel. those are nice. I have never seen them on any car. nevertheless I have never seen a genuine firehawk either. im sure you could figure something out for caps or lack of caps.

You might be able to find a machine shop to turn a piece of Al for the center caps. However, may cost more than you are willing to spend and they will be perfectly smooth, lacking the "hex nut".
Ronal produced the R-15 wheel again for Classic Industries around 2005. Shortly thereafter, they discontinued them. When they were available, you could choose the silver (pictured in the above post), and a few other colors like black for the inside of the spokes. About the only way to find a set now is used, you may get lucky sometime and find a mint set on the classified page.
The wheels were designed for the third gen offsets, so no spacers are required.
For what it is worth, I had to grind on the outer tie rod slightly to keep it from hitting the inside of the wheel. Additionally, I had to restrain the rubber brake hose from hitting the tire.

Good luck!
