Hi 85_ZED28,

Thank you. We are very excited about the launch of this new product line! Wheels, center caps, black wheel emblems, and lug nuts are in stock and shipping out to customers who have had them pre-ordered.

We also took the advice of the thirdgen.org forum members who requested some gray/silver emblems and we have those in development as well.

Here are some of the wheel emblems we are currently offering thanks to feedback from thirdgen.org members.

I got my wheels and they are gorgeous. I did not order lug nuts.

In the Southern California forum there is some debate about the lug nuts. Some members are using the factory lug nuts with their Ronals. I was going to use my factory original lug nuts, but after comparing them to the image on the Classic Industries website I decided not to. They are noticeably different.

Any advice on using the factory-original lug nuts with the Ronals would be appreciated.

Be extremely careful, if your socket contacts the wheels when you tighten the lugs, the finish will get scratched. I suggest small diameter splined lugs for your car.

We are very pleased to hear that you are happy with your OER R15 Style wheels! The long shank lug nuts, part # K151790 are normally utilized when running a .25" wheel spacer to gain additional clearance. The longer shank ensures that you do not compromise or lose contact of .25" of lug threads. This is done to increase safety and prevent wheels from loosening or coming off, etc.

Some people have questioned us regarding why the long shank lug nuts are not included with every wheel. But, the reason they are not included with each wheel is because it would raise the retail price of the wheel for everyone when most applications do not require them. There are many posts in this forum that explain when you might have to run a spacer, but generally, it is when you need clearance due to the front wheels rubbing the tie-rod end.

Please feel free to PM me if you have any additional questions.

As soon as I get the lug nuts from CI (followed by tires, btw) I will get photos posted. Actarnof in Southern California posted photos of his ride (with authentic Ronals) if you want to see what they look like mounted.

It is important to get the k151790 (for 12mm applications) lug nuts from CI. Unfortunately, they are on back order, so it might be awhile. Some applications might also require the spacers.

With that said, I want to compliment Ray at CI. I posted a question on the Southern California board and Ray jumped right on it. Great customer service, Ray!

Thanks Parrydise7,

The lug nuts, K151790 arrived from our supplier and are now in stock and shipping. No backorders at the moment. Enjoy the wheels!

Nice

What centre cap emblems are you going with? Did you get a chance to weigh the wheels before mounting them?

Re: Interest In Ronal R15 rims Group Order

Thanks, Zed. No, I did not weigh the wheels before mounting. A great idea! Wish I'd thought of it.

The last time I checked on the centre (that looks so much better than the plain old, every day, run-of-the mill, garden variety "center," doesn't it!) caps they were on back order.

IIRC correctly there was IROC, Z/28 and maybe a bowtie emblem. Check Classicindustries.com. Note Ray's post that there are no backorders at the present time. Hopefully that means the emblems as well.

Gentlemen,

Wheel weight is approx. 25.6 lbs. each. Please allow me to clear up any confusion regarding the emblems. The original OER product offering included 4 possible logo choices, all with chrome lettering on black background. There was a Bow Tie, Camaro, PMD and Firebird, part numbers K151796BK, K151797BK, K151798, & K151799. These are all in stock.

Later, after some discussion here on thirdgen.org, and at the request of some forum members, we asked OER to add silver logos with black lettering and also Z28 and IROC emblems. OER agreed to add these additional choices for us and immediately set to work on them. These emblems that were part of that second phase are coming soon, but are not yet in stock. It should not be very long, though. Here is a link to complete current emblem offering.

Please let me know if we can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in this product.

Re: Interest In Ronal R15 rims Group Order

well i guess everyone found all the parts they were looking for !

the silver non powdercoated rims are the same price as pc
might as well go with the pc ... originally they were less expensive

do you think the last run in 2006 are worth more than this current run?
how is the quality?
are all the new buyers happy?
how much was the set after shipping ?
since the caps are included with the wheel and nothing else
i am figuring ball park $1500 including spacers lugs and shipping

I dont see the bowtie caps anywhere on the sight - happy new year! ~Will

Hi Will,

Thank you for the comment. I can answer a few of the questions. OER is not offering a machined (non-powder-coated) finish. All of the wheels are powder coated, even the silver wheels.

Here is a link to the Chevy emblems that are being offered at this time, including the Bow Tie emblem you inquired about.

The OER R15 Style wheels will come with center caps and center cap bolts. The key is sold separately as are the center cap emblems.

The wheels will install with stock lugs unless you need to run .25" spacers. If your car requires spacers, we offer a special lug nut with a longer shank to accommodate this. Hope this helps.

Let me know what I would need I guess besides the rims and caps that come together. I guess I will need a key and a set of lug nuts. Any Idea what shipping would be to Canada on a set of these?

Thanks Ray

I just went on the CI web site and they are in. You will also need the wrench and the appropriate lug nuts. I also got the spacers. Some members said you need them and others said no, you do not. I needed the spacers. Better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them.

I already have spacers that will work as I have them for my GTA's now so they clear my brakes. I just got to check the thread pitch on my rear end and the fronts as Im almost positive they are different so I might have to get 2 sets of lugs

Hi 6six6,

Thank you for the inquiry. Yes. They are still in stock. Please PM me with your postal code and your Classic Industries customer number (should be on the back of your catalog or on your invoice) and I will have the sales dept. provide a shipping quote for you. You definitely will need a key for the center cap bolts. If you run the spacers on the front (2) K151791, you should also run *K8125 lug nuts with the longer shank.

Hello confucius101,

This is not a group buy. These are in stock now, ready for any forum member or non-member to purchase.

You may sign up for our eblasts to ensure you are always informed about our sales promotions. We happen to have a promotion going on right now that expires March 20th, 2014 at Midnight PST. You may use promo code MDN14 to purchase these wheels and receive up-to-20% off your order (Some restrictions may apply). Hope this helps. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

This is all I have for now. I got the wheels before the car. These shipped extremely quickly, Thanks Ray. Hopefully my car will be here next week sometime. They're going on a black 91 formula 350 hardtop. Don't have tires yet either. Planning on Firestone Firehawks.

The lug nuts Classic is selling are very different then the ones Ronal shipped with their wheels. Are the recesses cut different?

Hello conlinj,

Thank you for your comment. We offer a variety of lug nuts and lug nut sets for use with the R15 wheels. Depending on what your needs are, we have a special 12mm x 1.50 lug nut with the 1/4" longer shank, part # K151790 or K8125 (set) that can be used for third gen vehicles running the 1/4" spacers. We also offer standard 12mm x 1.50 lug nuts for use on third gen cars that do not require the 1/4" spacers. These std 12mm x 1.50 lug nuts are part # K151801 or K8126 (set). We offer these 12mm x 1.50 lug nuts individually or as a set of 10. We also offer 7/16" x 1.50 lug nuts if running these wheels on earlier cars without metric thread. But for the third gen enthusiast, the metric 12mm x 1.50 thread should be correct. Hopefully this clarifies the issue of compatibility in regards to lug nuts. If you have any further questions, please let me know.

Re: Interest In Ronal R15 rims Group Order

The ones Ronal shipped are bulge style, the ones you guys are offering are not, they would dig into the pockets for the lug nuts. Some might not care, but it could stop them from seating properly. Maybe the OER wheels are different?

I'll get a pic of the hardware Ronal supplied, I still have the extra set in a bag that they gave you for rotating the wheels.

Jim,

Thank you. That would be great. I will discuss your comments with our technical department and we will definitely check it out to ensure there are no issues like you have described.

The caps pop off the lugs for use with extended studs, it was nice not to have to buy new lugs after I swapped rears last weekend.

Hi ConlinJ,

Thanks for the pics. We managed to re-source the lugs per your suggestion and moved to the bulge style. http://www.classicindustries.com/search/?q=r15
Our current lugs do not have the caps on top, so long studs would not be an issue.

What are the green rings for? Is that the 1/4" spacers they were using or a centering ring? Can't really tell from image.

they are the hub centering rings, I couldn't find the extra set of spacers they sent with the wheels, they must be in storage. The spacers were nice, the actually lock into the wheel and then a centering ring fits into them.

Thanks ConlinJ.

Do you have any use for them or would you be willing to sell those? If so, let me know. We would love to find a set of original spacers and hub centering rings for R&D.

View straight from side. My daughters dog Penn had to get in this one. In a weird pose with her tongue sticking out.
