I have contacted Classic Industries in regards to reproducing the R15 Ronal rims. I contacted Janet Newton Sales and Service Manager at Classic Industries and was told the following:
Dear Eric
We have made contact with the US distributor for Ronal. The R15 wheel hasn't been manufactured for years now however depending on the quantity of the "Group Order”, Ronal may be willing to do a special run of them. Theses are manufactured in Germany , so it will take some time to get a finished product. Can you give me an idea of the number of wheels you would require and I will try to get a cost for this special run.

good luck! Last time this was done, 100 people promised to get a set of 4 rims and I was told not even half stepped up to the plate. Anyway, if it happens I'm in for an extra set of center caps lol

Yeah,i bet Hawk's could sell all they could get!If they would have had them in stock last year i'd have bought a set from them.I'm so glad i found some last summer!Problem is,now i'm looking for a Formula and want some for it too!Guess i'll just have to swap my set back and forth between the Z28 and the Formula when i find one...lol!

I would love a set of these wheels. I hate to rain on the parade, but the GP thing is not going to work out. Nobody (myself included) wants to shell out over a grand before the wheels are done and I don't think Ronal is going to do a production run without cash in hand. One of the big companies need to step up and get this done. How did the wheels sell the last time they were produced? If they sold as well as people seem to think they did I would think it would be a no brainer for a company to make this happen.

Last time the demand was a lot larger, and someone contacted Ronal directly and expressed an interest. When they were convinced there was a demand the wheels were produced and a very small fraction of the interested parties actually bought them. Judging from the sets that languished in the classifieds here (not all that long ago even) they probably would be no more successful now than they were then. SLP and other dealers bought them last time too, and it sure didn't seem that they sold all that quickly.

I doubt this would happen. Ronal stated that the last run back in 2002 would be the last one.

However, I wonder what a set of 4 still in their boxes would sell for?

A new in box never installed set just sold for $1299 on ebay last week. But I'm sure anyone can find the right buyer and get $1800 for a new set. I'm just hoping that they make another run of them.

I don't think people really care about the boxes as long as the wheels are mint you will get top dollar. The set that went for $1299 had never been mounted and had the wheels, center caps, lugs and these white and green rings I think. And I guess the tool to take off the center cap? I don't know but it was the whole set. Makes me wish I bid a little higher.

$800....that's what i paid last summer for a set new in the boxes.Found them here in the classifieds.I don't think that's the norm though....i just got lucky.

 

I'm in! My 91 Formula was my first new car I had ever purchased. Still got it, and ready to upgrade.

 

I purchased the set of rims from SLP back in early 2003. They were $1299. I never got around to taking them out of the box and mounting them yet. Mainly because my Formula has been out of commission and sitting in the garage.

Ronal should make a certain amout every 5 years. i think they would make a killing.

 

If they're cast, and don't require spacers on 1LE brakes, I'd commit to a set at $700 delivered to my door. If they're forged, no thanks. I'm not willing to spend for forged when I don't need forged.

Update on this thread. A reproduction of this wheel is now in tooling and will be available exclusively through OER distributors by early 2012. Pre-orders are being accepted at Classic Industries. You can place an order for them now (no deposit necessary) and you will be contacted by Classic Industries as soon as they are in stock. Preliminary ETA is early 2012. Sales will be on a first come, first serve basis. Hope this helps. The custom center cap emblems are a nice touch as well.

Well at least there will finally be the availability of a center cap insert that I want (CAMARO) and wont have to worry about spray painting the stock white Ronal insert or try to modify any other ones.
