Hello everyone, Im new to the boards. Just a quick intro, Im erick and im new to american muscle scene. This is actually my first american car purchase. Im coming over from the import side. A friend of mine was selling his 85z28 for a crazy price, so I couldnt pass it up. Here is my question. I just bought some 16x8 wheels (the onese it had were so busted) and now im seeking tires for them. I just bought some 245/50/16s from tire rack. Is this a good setup? I will have 255/50/16s for the rear, I just want to be sure there wont be any serious clearance issues. I'll get pics of said wheels and tires as soon as they come in (and car too )

thanks you all!

Re: Front tire size question
That's fine as long as the backspacing on the wheels are correct. 245 in the front is fine for that size wheel as with 255 in the back.

If you don't mind me asking how much did you get your 85z for. I have one as well, its my favorite year.

Re: Front tire size question
With the 16 in wheels, they are marked FRONT and REAR - you HAVE to put them on right, so make sure you have the right ones, and get the right tires put on the right wheels so you'll have both 255's together and both 245's together.

Re: Front tire size question
Well ****, I sure hope that I get the wheels marked like that. I bought them as a set on ebay. Theyre factory originals that look like ronal firehawks. Well see.

I got the camaro for 4k. Its just about 90% done I would say. I'll post some pics up tomorrow. I got the bfgoodrich g force sport from tire rack. 268 shipped for the fronts.

Re: Front tire size question
I've never seen a factory Camaro wheel that looked like a Firehawk wheel. Got a link to them?

If they are OEM wheel, 'FRONT' & 'REAR' will be cast into the wheels. Front wheels will fit the rear of these cars, but rear wheels will not fit the front, unless you use a thin spacer, like just 1/4" thick.

I didn't see where he said that they were stock wheels. Did he? I assumed he bought aftermarket wheels. If they are stock wheels they will be marked.

4g's wow seems like a bit much. How many miles? Whats done to it?

I bought my '85 2 years ago for 1200$. Semi-new paint, Full exhaust, new interior, rebuilt 5spd trans, Motor was missing a distrib, carb and belts. Ripped it out and put in a 350 anyway.

It has a rebuilt 305 by jasper motors, holley carb, hooker headers, edelbrock intake, rear disk conversion brake, new interior, seats, fresh paint with plenty clear coat. Just needed tires wheels, stereo. All the electric works. Oh and its ttops. He did most of all the work really.

Re: Front tire size question
here is what the exterior currently looks like as of now. You can see it needs new tires/wheels. The inside is just as clean.
